he needs a girl who he can alternate with,(like, per say, she learns from him and he learns from her),some one to lean on, to connect with, to understand and continue on even thought she is aware of her circumstances due to his status in the ninja world and why he has the apearing complex that he has and what his end will be, but love him truely anyway.
Duhhh pleaasee not Temari...You must be kidding man, Temari even didn't have any compassion even toward her own brother, she also quite manly for a girl -__- (Don't get me wrong, I like Temari she's cool :p)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure he did have a lover...In the episode where Madara tells Sasuke the truth about Itachi, he says Itachi killed his best friend, parents and even his lover!.. :0!

in the manga, it is written that he killed his girlfriend. she must be an uchiha too.
yes i believe he needs a girl especially to stop all the yoai vids but u have to have someone to love and i think that would be a cool effect for Itachi

Ya! Hate it when people makes Itachi and other guys being gays and all just because they don't seem to be intersted in girls! But all that is because they live for revange and stuff, that means no romance! Why would such an anime like Naruto have a BoyxBoy? ;P

Lol can't believe the fangirls who delude themselves into thinking he is real. Don't get me wrong, I'm in love with him too, but I know he had a lover once and she was an Uchiha, so he had to kill her too. :p
I think that Itachi is too sad and guilty from having to kill his old lover that he'd never fall in love again...so he probably shouldn't have antoher lover unless it would help heal him somehow.
i think he should i mean look every one eles in the anime has some one so why not itachi? he does need some one who understands him loves him and will care and protect him and never leave him i heard that kishimoto masashi is actually going to make itachi a grl friend and an important part in the anime i hear this from a friend who lives in japan i believe her name is still being chosen , it is said she will not die itachi does not kill her it's either she kill's with itachi or she's on a mission when it happens i'll find out more from my friend back in japan hopes that helps hear's a pic of her (or alest i thing this is what she's going to look like) spread the word!
However, it looks like he doesn't really love his dead girlfriend/lover at the first place (that's if she really exist and not just Tobi's bullcrap). Whatever the reason, Sasuke proved to be more important so that he spare his life.
And about a 'new girlfriend/lover'...Well, he killed almost all of his clan member and gives Sasuke the burden to lead and revive Uchiha clan (which is, based on their mother was actually itachi's responsibility), so that he thought himself doesn't deserved to be happy.
Other technical reason for Itachi doesn't have any girlfriend alive may be because Kishimoto-sensei didn't want Itachi's role as a villain for Sasuke getting messed.
