Ok this might be the lst one for tonight...key word is might. :)
End of Chapter 26
"I do!" Bella yelled. "Oh Alice, do it now! I could help you so much....and I wouldn't slow you down. BITE ME!" She pretty much yelled the last part.
I noticed the attendant and most of the other passengers had stopped what they were doing and now were staring at us.
"Shh!" I said as I moved my hand to silence her. "Try to be reasonable." I whispered. "We don't have enough time. We have to get into Volterra tomorrow. You would be writing in pain for days...and I don't think the other passengers would react well." I said as I smiled.
Bella bit her lower lip, chewing on it for a second before she continued. "If you don't do it now, you'll change your mind."
"No." I said as I thought about it one more time, knowing that this is what she truly wanted..even knowing what she knew. "I don't think I will. He'll be furious, but what will be able to do about it?"
"Nothing at all." Bella said angrily, her heart rate rising.
I laughed at her, the angry kitten showing it's head again. "You have too much faith in me Bella. I'm not sure that I can. I'll probably just end up killing you anyway."
"I'll take my chances." She said quickly, a smile spreading across her face.
"You are so bizarre, even for a human." I said as I shook my head.
"Thanks." Bella said as she stuck her tongue out at me.
"Oh well, this is all hypothetical at this point, anyway. First we have to live through tomorrow." I said as I changed the subject.
"Good point." Bella said as she yawned, then returned to staring out the window deep in thought.
"Go back to sleep, I'll wake you when there's something new." I encouraged.
"Right." She said as she watched me pull my legs up on the seat in front of me, resting my head on the back of the seat.
I went back to searching for what Edward was up to. I knew that Bella would count on me to keep my promise...would I be able to? Would everyone hate me? Would it matter after tomorrow?
Chapter 27
I heard Bella getting comfortable in her seat, I felt bad because I wasn't a very good traveling companion...but I had to keep watching.
I was scanning through a few different visions when I saw Edward standing in front of Aro. Aro's face was unmistakable..he was concerned...but not enough to have someone do something.
"Edward, we have discussed this in depth." Aro said as he looked down at Edward.
"We have decided that we can not grant your request. We would like to once again like to offer you a place here if you do not wish to go home." He said as he grinned.
I saw Edwards face, even watching it from others view I knew that Edward was not buying anything they were saying. He knew that they would try to stop him, try to keep him there if they could.
"Thank you for hearing me out." He said as he slowly nodded his head.
He turned and walked out of the room, being careful not to touch Aro. He knew that if Aro touched him he would know what Edward was planning.
Once he was top side, he started looking around for different ways to expose himself...forcing the Volturi to take him out.
His first thought was to go hunting. No one hunted inside the walls of the city..that was the number one rule. I saw him walking behind a woman in an alley, and him taking her down. He quickly changed his mind as he thought about the blood, and how it would make him a monster again.
The next thoughts flashed by so fast that I had to pay attention to everything. I saw him running through town, finding a car and lifting it up above his head..as a show of his strength. He thought about jumping off the top of a tower, knowing that people would be watching. When he hit the ground he could spring to his feet, and start to walk away, showing people something they couldn't understand.
He was walking down an alley, contemplating different thoughts when he saw the clock tower in the center of town. He made his decision right there in the alley. I saw that the time was almost 12:00, he shred his shirt off and stepped into the crowded square.....into the sun.
My eyes snapped open, I looked around noticing that almost everyone else in first class was sleeping, including Bella. The sun was just starting to rise so I leaned over Bella and closed the shade, waking her from her sleep.
"What's happening?" She asked as she rubbed her eyes like a small child.
"They've told him no." I said softly.
"What...What's he going to do?" She stuttered, sitting up straight in he chair.
"It was chaotic at first. I was only getting flickers, he was changing plans so quickly." I said as I shook my head.
"What kind of plans?"
"There was a bad hour.." I whispered. "He'd decided to go hunting."
Bella had a blank look on her face, she didn't understand what was wrong with Edward going hunting.
"In the city." I explained slowly. "It got very close. He changed his mind at the last minute."
"He wouldn't want to disappoint Carlisle." Bella said softly.
"Probably." I agreed. I knew that Edward would not disappoint Carlisle...even in the end.
"Will there be enough time?" She asked as the captain came overhead and announced our decent.
"I'm hoping so..if he sticks to his latest decision...maybe."
"What is that?" She wondered.
"He's going to keep it simple. He's just going to walk out into the sun." I said..rather matter of fact.
Bella sucked a deep breath between her teeth. "We'll be too late." She cried.
"Right now, he's leaning toward the melodramatic. He wants the biggest audience possible, so he'll choose the main plaza, under the clock tower. The walls are high there. He'll wait until the sun is exactly overhead." I said quickly.
"So we have..until noon?" She asked.
"If we're lucky...if he sticks to this decision." I said quietly.
Bella looked at me, so many questions written on her face. "How far is it from Florence to Volterra?" She asked.
I smiled. I knew that she wasn't going to like this question but it had to be asked. If she wanted to make it in time we couldn't wait for a taxi.
"That depends on how fast you drive...Bella?" I said as I had an idea.
"Yes?" She said slowly...not trusting me completely...and I didn't blame her.
"How strongly are you opposed to grand theft auto?" I asked as I watched her face closely.
