Kate woke early the next morning, at the crack of dawn to be exact. Kate got out of bed quietly as not to wake Stormy and stretched out her legs. When she went out into the living room she could see light from the sun starting to peak over the eastern horizon. Kate jumped onto the big recliner that was overstuffed and large. The next day after me, Kate, and Buddy had returned to camp. Dad and I had planned a day-long excursion up to the very top of the Little Belt Mountains to watch the sunset. As usual I was up early and was getting everything ready to go. Topping off dad's Yamaha Grizzly and my Kawasaki with gas, checking tire pressure of both machines, and so on.

I had been planning it for some time but I wanted to take Kate and show her the legendary ice caves above Crystal Lake. This frozen cave stays frozen year round even in the hottest months of July and August when temperatures reach 90 to 100 degrees. It was about a 7 mile hike from the parking area and would take most of the day to do, for Kate it would be easy but it is a different story for me.
"You will like this place Kate trust me," I assured her while packing supplies into the Bronco. I opened the passenger door for her.

I had been debating whether or not to take Kate to school with me and finally decided on bringing her with me. There was only a few weeks left and than summer would arrive signaling my freedom and my favorite season. In the morning we showered together and I helped Kate wash all the places she could not reach. After that we hoped into my Bronco and went to Mcdonald's and grabbed some delicious breakfast Mcmuffins and hashbrowns.
"Now Kate I don't hardly like anyone in this school other than my 2 friends so just don't speak to anyone, give no reason for people to tempt me. You are so beautiful...

"This thing is cool!" Zach exclaimed about the pocket sized squirt gun he managed to snatch from a bratty kid who had tried to squirt him with it. We were headed back to the parking lot to get Kate and Stormy and go elsewhere.
"Dude you better not squirt me with that or else!" I joked with him. We were now getting closer to the parking lot; I looked toward the young tree where Kate and Stormy should have been waiting. They were not there; fear welled up inside me, any traces of humor immediately was gone....

"We got to hussle though; it is 7 already and we still need to shower, there won't be time for breakfast."

*author's note: the camping trip is now over, this is written to pick up the pace of my stories a bit, still the most exciting part has yet to come!*

When the camping trip ended; the Airstream unpacked at home, the usual routine resumed. Now since school was out I went to work full time at the store. For 3 days I would work a full 8 hour shift. The money was much better but I still needed more to save for college.
I landed a job with one of dad's old friends who was also a part time mason. A man named Tim, he like my dad was older and had a bad back too. I worked at that job for 2 days...

The next morning Buddy took off exploring. Buddy was searching for beavers. They had constructed a new dam downstream from where the old one that he had plunged into the previous spring was. He came upon the newly constructed dam and to his surprise there was hardly any water in it; 3 beavers were sitting in the middle of it, watching him. Buddy strolled up to them, they made to run however.
"Don't worry, I'm not going to eat you!" Buddy said.
"Okay, you better not I warn you dammit!" One of the beavers said.

The next morning was a bright and sunny one, I woke to the sun streaming in the small window in my bedroom in the trailer house. A nice break considering all the rain we had been getting. Kate laid with her paws around me, we had had been making out and fell asleep doing so the night before.
