Keith Harkin is well known in Ireland and the UK for his distinctive alt-folk/pop and alt-country sound, is better known to US

audiences as a member of Celtic Thunder – in fact the only member to have his original music included on the sm

ash hit show. A seasoned musician, who has been gigging with his own material since he was a teenager, Keith has just recorded his own album which will be out by the end of march! Keith also has his own music Label “Busty Music LTD,” this is the label both he and his sister will be released on this year.

Hi everyone,
Sitting on the train here after having a nice show and good sushi in St.Louis, and on my way to Kansas I thought I’d write another blog for you guys!!!

Soooo Glasgowbury 2010 eh?!?!? For all of you who could make it, I hope you had a BLAST, (I know I did) and thanks for coming and showing your support… it was the most fun ive had playing at a gig in a long time and fair play to the band, the boys played a blinder considering some of them only had a day to learn the songs!!! And not forgetting the beautifull Rebecca harkin…you played a blinder too on those shakers!!!! All I can say is "roll on next year!"

If any of you guys have any cool pics or Vids of the event post them for all to see!!!!
From the last blog I did I literally have been writing loads and finishing off songs for glasgowbury, I wrote 4 new tunes for it and revamped a few others so I basically havnt left my studio in a month…WEL WORTH IT!

So now Ryan and I are doing a promotrip everywhere round the states, we went from NY to OH to LA to St.louis and now somewhere in the wide yonder on a train to Kansas, were we will do our 4th promo show tonight...

Ok a friend a posted this little diddy on Keith and Neil when she was watching their PBS promo--

Anyhoo..Keith and Neil were on the MPT PBS show tonight.

Meet and Greets are gone! Had to add a second number again tonight!

They were adorable and funny. They said that the fall show will have two parts. The first part will be ALL Irish music. The second part will be IE.

Neil says "you know" alot.

They took questions from the callers...the usual...but then they asked Keith to tell something about Neil that no one knows. He said "He wears pink underware and paints his toenails red"
Then Neil said that "Keith's hair isn't real...it's a wig" and then he said "naw...he really wears curlers in his hair everynight". The PBS lady asked
Keith if that was true and he said "yep...actually this is a helmet...but I do wear the curlers to get it straight everynight"

Keith was more clean-shaven than usual...but, he looked HAWT!!!! They both were adorable and said they love American audiences.

Howdy ya'll, i hope that you are all behaving per usual and not doing anything that I wouldn't do!!!

I've been kept busy the past few week's doing anything and everything, to stay active. I wrote quite a cool wee tune last night on my 12 string fender, there is a class sound outa it and I'm glad i own it. It's funny sometimes when you lift a different guitar and just get a completely different buzz outa it and write a style of song that you wouldn't normally, (well thats my excuse for owning all those guitarz!!!)!

The surf Hasn't been all that great since i got home which is a pity but i reckon that when i come home from the promotional trip in the states i will be rewarded greatly from the gods with nice glassy barrels somewhere in the sticks of Donegal. With any luck there is a possibility of something small coming from the north this sunday, fingers crossed & i'll get a dip somewhere!

The Landrovers in the garage getting fixed atm, but it seems that i am doing all the running to get the parts and what not!!!.... Surely this should be the mechanics JOB!! If i had the time i would be under it doing it myself, but sadly i dont gots...

Well to start id just like to say if the blog about the radio interview is still at the bottom of the screen its because i cant get rid of it and it wont go away!.... if it is on the other hand and is away.... HAPPYDAYS!

The new show just got released and I hope you are all enjoying it and the new tracks, I only heard them today myself, and they sound great.... well done to all the lads on a great job!

I've been getting up to loads the past week or so... painting, soldering, surfing, changing windscreens on 38 year old VW bugs, ripping up carpets and writing a few songs in between too!

Came up with a really cool song yesterday and cant wait to record it... there's a set of drums coming in the next week or so to my studio, so even more noise to be made now! Im sure the neighbors will be over the moon...lol. yeah the new song is about a song that really gets you. You know? That song, everyone has one?!

Ripped out all of the carpets on my VW and painted the floor to a matching colour of the rest of the car... that is drying as we speak and there is a nice set of tan mats just waiting to be slipped into place... should be ace when...

"Hello to all,"

"I hope that you have all settled into the New Year as swimmingly as i have, the surf really wasn't much to talk about from the time i got home, but the New Year has had more than enough tasty swells for myself and my mates to freeze our wee toe's off in!!!"

"Its good to be home, it always takes at least a month i've now found to get your head back into normal life after touring, its just a different world when your on the road! As some of you already know i have created a studio @ home now so thats been keeping me pretty busy, also i've been writing loads again and been writing songs for other people, you never know there could be a HIT in those mental lyrics some where ... lol !!!"

"It's the Bloody Sunday Memorial this weekend in Derry, so this sunday everyone will be doing the civil rights march from the Creggan shops through Creggan to the Free Derry corner, where they have people talk about the past and how thing's are getting better and better in the north. Also it normally attracts lots and lots of tourists from everywhere & great musicians who play in all the local venues round the town, our very own Barry...

BBC Radio Foyle with Mark Patterson

Mark: And so, folks, to our People in Profile where all week here on the program for the second hour I’m just taking time to talk to a local person who’s made their mark in one way or another. Today, a surfer, singer, songwriter who started out with an acoustic guitar, as I remember it, at the local bar scene. He made his mark, and he then took the plunge and joined Phil Coulter’s Celtic Thunder tour of America. That decision has led to three Billboard chart world music number one albums, a pending solo album, and now, his own record label. When locals checked the rumors online – I’ll never forget the day – there he was, stopping the traffic in the middle of New York City on American network television, bringing in St. Patrick’s Day. It’s been a good few years for a local man, Keith Harkin. Keith, good afternoon to you.

Two girls for every boy

I bought a '30 Ford wagon and we call it a woody
(Surf City, here we come)
You know it's not very cherry, it's an oldie but a goody
(Surf City, here we come)
Well, it ain't got a back seat or a rear window
But it still gets me where I wanna go

And we're goin' to Surf City, 'cause it's two to one
You know we're goin' to Surf City, gonna have some fun
Ya, we're goin' to Surf City, 'cause it's two to one
You know we're goin' to Surf City, gonna have some fun, now
Two girls for every boy

Two girls for every.....

.....(guitar solo).....

Well she got her daddy's car
And she cruised through the hamburger stand now
Seems she forgot all about the library
Like she told her old man now
And with the radio blasting
Goes cruising just as fast as she can now

And she'll have fun fun fun
'Til her daddy takes the T-Bird away

"Everybody needs a little time away," I heard her say, "from each other."
"Even lover's need a holiday far away from each other."
Hold me now. It's hard for me to say I'm sorry. I just want you to stay.

After all that we've been through, I will make it up to you. I promise to.
And after all that's been said and done,
You're just the part of me I can't let go.

Couldn't stand to be kept away just for the day from your body.
Wouldn't wanna be swept away, far away from the one that I love.
Hold me now. It's hard for me to say I'm sorry. I just want you to know.
Hold me now. I really want to tell you I'm sorry. I could never let you go.

After all that we've been through, I will make it up to you. I promise to.
And after all that's been said and done,
You're just the part of me I can't let go.

After all that we've been through, I will make it up to you. I promise to.

You're gonna be the lucky one.

Overture and beginners please... Strike up the band... Stand by for Celtic Thunder... and "It's Entertainment."

This stylish and high energy trip through some of the great songs of the last 30years is pure showbiz! It is a tribute from Celtic Thunder to the legacy they have inherited from the great entertainers of the past, and a mark of how far they themselves have travelled as performers, in a few short years.

It evokes an era of big bands and boulevards, top hats and tails and singing and dancin' in the rain! It makes for irresistible listening as the principals from this generation pay their respects to the stars of an earlier time. In the true tradition of variety, the music covers a mix of styles, songs and singers as the lads salute their musical heroes - from Fred Astaire to Neil Diamond, from Jim Croce to Chicago, from Michael Buble to The Beach Boys!

Each member features with two songs, one a serious workout, the other a bit of pure fun and a chance to let the hair down! These lighter choices have George stomping around to The Proclaimer's 'My Life With You,' while Ryan takes on the persona of a Chicago gangster with 'Bad, Bad Leroy...

I found a Hobnobs recipe on-line, and after a few changes to the recipe (we don't do grams very well in the US..) I tried it out last night. They're a hit!! Hobnobs are fantastically delicious cookies! The recipe I found states that it's a pretty accurate 'copycat' version of the classic British biscuit. Here's the recipe:

240g self-raising flour (about 2 cups)
240g sugar (1 1/2 cups to 1 1/2 cups)
240g porridge oats (about 3 cups) -- I used Quaker oatmeal
240g margarine (1 1/4 cup) -- I used butter - no margarine in my refrigerator!
1 Tbsp golden syrup (you can order it on-line... I used light corn syrup, or you could use honey..)
1 Tbsp hot water
1/2 tsp baking soda

Combine the flour, oats and sugar in a bowl. Add the margarine, syrup and water in a pan and heat gently until the margarine melts and the golden syrup becomes liquid. Take off the heat and stir in the baking soda; then add to the dry ingredient mix and stir thoroughly to combine.
