Television actor Sharad Kelkar, who is replacing Mohnish Behl in Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, says he won't copy the former's style and will just play the lead character of Dr. Ashutosh.

The director thought since the character requires a certain amount of maturity so I would perfectly fit into it. But I am not stepping into Mohnish-ji's shoes. I am stepping into the character's shoes. He acted very well and was brilliant in the show. But I am not going to copy him," Kelkar told IANS.

"I have my own style and attitude when it comes to acting. No two actors can be the same. So I hope viewers like me in my own avatar and not compare me with Mohnishji. I will try to fulfill all the requirements and expectations of people," he said.

Before shooting for the show, Sharad did a two-day workshop with other actors in the show.

"I had a meeting with the team and that time I had some prior commitments, so took some time to decide. It seemed like a challenge to me, but then I thought one should go ahead and said yes," said the actor who hails from Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, and is an MBA in marketing.

Actor Sharad Kelkar, best remembered for Saat Phere, has been confirmed as Mohnish Behl's replacement in popular daily soap Kuch Toh Log Kahenge. He will essay the role of Dr. Ashutosh in the show.

Mohnish is said to have left the show due to health reasons. His exit from the show is centred around an accident, and the scene was shown Tuesday night.

The show, which went on air last October, is the Indian adaptation of popular Pakistani TV series Dhoop Kinare. It is about love between two doctors with a wide age gap.

According to a source, there will be no change in the original story to suit Mohnish's exit and Sharad's entry in Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, aired on Sony.

Sharad has already started shooting for the show.

Earlier, there was a buzz that Anuj Saxena would replace Mohnish, but the production company, Director's Kut, finalised Sharad for it. Even Cezanne Khan of Kasautii Zindagii Kay was approached for the role, but the deal didn't work out.

As a young heartthrob, Karan admits that he likes, "girls running after me. In fact, I get irritated when I don't get attention from them! Most 25 year old guys have to work hard to impress the girls and have to do all the chasing. For me the roles are reversed. What more can a guy ask for? It's fun to be the centre of attention.
