Once again, I have got to say that I just LOVED this episode! (It might not count, concidering the fact that I love EVERY episode) but this just a great episode. It was funny, intence, dramatic, INTERESTING, and Tim once again performed effortlessly. It was simply; amazing.
Brief Overview:
We begin with a quick opening scene with Cal and a group of guys all pointing guns at eachother, and "He's lying" is said by none other, and he get's shot. Oh dear Lord, he get's shot. WTF?!?!
After opening credits we see the subtitle '28 hours earlier' telling us that thankfully this hasn't happened yet, but we're going to find out how it does.
"You've started dating again" Cal inturrupts Gillian as they walk down the hallway together as they always do every episode. What if she IS dating again...what are your thoughs? Personally, I'm open to it. Great!! Ria come's a running and tells Cal that he has a visitor. None other than his ol' mate 'Terry Mass' (please correct me if that's worng, I have a hard time with names in this show, too many to keep track of...)
"God Almighty." Well Cal's surprised to see him there. Apparently it's been 22 years since they last 'hung out' and before you know it they're off to a bar for a couple of drinks. (And seriously, hearing both Cal AND Terry talk in their British lingo made me giggle my arse off, and for a moment I thought I was watching an episode Coronation Street...)
But they catch up, and a certain past is brought up, but according to Cal, this is just 'water under the bridge'. They run off to meet some 'ladies' at a party/bar/wh0r# house really, and Cal says "I owe you my life, there I said it." BIG debt to pay there Cal, prepare yourself. Terry want's Cal to gamble to get him to pay off his '12 grand debt'. Well after a 'bit much to drink' he gambles. What the heck, right?
--
Now Reyonalds is concerned, showing us that he DOES care about Cal's saftey and something about Terry just seems to set him off.
--
Now there's an intence sequence of gambling with Cal, spotting the tells and obviously winning. (Again with the cool effects) And in this sequence his accent was just PRICELESS. Little Odessa, anyone?? =D After Cal sucessfully gets the money...Terry tells him that it's really 95 grand. "95 GRAND?!?" That's what I said.
--
Now cut to Loker and all of the team analyzing a threat tape to blow up this private school. The usual case, you know. But once again Ria runs off on her own to the school to run her own 'experement'. She plays the tape...and she's got some people.
--
Cal safely get's the money. And all seems well. "You're welcome", and, "See you in another 22 years"...and that seems to be that...for now.
--
Reyonalds confronts Cal about Terry and tells him everything about Terry, how that he was in prison for 'grevious bodily harm', Cal retorts "Did you follow us?" Oh, the irony in that quote.
Now Cal runs down to the lab, looks at the tape...spots a chain of looks from one student to the other, and Loker spots the main man that everyone is flashing glances at. "I suppose you're going to ask for a raise now? Well can't afford a raise now." Well, I wonder why that is, Cal. (Where is Zoe, by the way...? We haven't seen her in quite a while...well it seems like it.)
Gillian points out, "You look awful" Cal replies, "And yet I feel much worse." Aww, honey!! D=
Cal goes back into his office and who better to run into than Terry! "I said 22 years, not 22 miunets." Apparently now, those guys that Cal was gambling with to settle Terry's debt, know who he is and they want him as their 'magic man'.
Plot twist.
We see Cal's now talking to Reyonalds, obviously trying to get him to cover his a$$. "Major bloody problem." Reyonalds won't buy it, he dosen't like Terry already. "Help me to help Terry to help you." Reyonalds threatens to arrest Cal, not sure where that came from, but it was hilarious to watch Cal see through it but he specifically tells Ben to "keep Foster out of this"
When Cal gets out of his office, he runs into Gillian and she immediatly asks "What's wrong?" "Nothing." Nice cover. Gillian know's somethings up.
--
Back on the student case, Cal is there interrogating them to find that a student named Jerry, the guy that everyone was looking at, admits to making the video...or at least, he wishes he had. When Gillian is interrogating him she finds out that he didn't and that he was covering for another student. They run over the video of the students again, and they spot Stacy and believe that her emotions were 'homocidal intent' by her reactions to the video. They call her in.
--
Cal's with Terry again, his 'best mate' and actually admits to the fact that he dosen't like torturing but he does so by grabing his hand/broken fingers, and uses it to get the immediate truth out of him. Cal get's what he wanted, and goes along with this madness. "Well come on, then." "Thank you." "Oh, shut-up."
lol
--
Gillian is talking to Stacy when Ria comes in and tells her that Cal isn't around. Gillian seems really concerned and tells her to keep looking. (It's nice to watch her reactions to the fact that Cal is missing)
--
We go to Cal's "case", if you can even call it that, and we see Reyonalds sitting outside, making sure Cal's alright. We cut unside to see Cal blindfolded and being lead inside...nice.
The 'boss' as I'm going to call him, tells Cal to find a guy who'se been ratting on him. "Alright boys."
After a short commercial break, we see Cal immediatly point the finger at the boss. "Liars you." He gets a punch in the gut for that, but he was right; It was a test and no one was an informer.
--
We go back to the school case and see that Gillian is still talking to Stacy, but she's getting some real answers. Apparently Stacy has been bullied in P.E. and while she has had the occasional 'revenge' thought, she dosen't want to hurt anyone. Everyone looks at the P.E. teacher...
--
Cal and Terry are sitting with the 'boss' just talking...you know, Cal says that he 'owes Terry his life', the boss asks why, Cal deflects, we have to wait till the end to hear the full story.
But a call comes in, and Cal has a 'meeting' with some counterfit guy, but he points out Reyonalds and that forces them to move to the 'safe house' AKA, a warehouse.
Now, normally, you would take this as a mistake on Cal's part. But in all past episodes, he has never made a mistake that wasn't intentional. (Only his mother's case, but that was life chaning for him, and only the beginning.)
He know's that Reyonalds won't be far off.
--
Gillian talks to Stacy's 'bully' Jasmine, and we quickly find out that she really regrets everything that she did to her. She can't be it.
Uh-oh, where's Stacy? In the bathroom, passed out of course.
Gillian missed it, she mistook 'homicidal intent' for 'suicidal intent'.
That was amazing.
--
Reyonalds sees that Cal is on the move and signals them to follow and stay 3 cars behind.
Well thank god he's following him, things are now on the move.
--
Gillian, Loker, and Ria are at the hospital, bringing to mind an episode of House, but the most concerned is Gillian. Well I hope so, she is the one who missed it...but everyone did.
"She's going to be ok."
--
Back at the warehouse, Cal and Terry are all alone to discuss their current predicament. It was a heated discussion, bringing up that certain past again, and Terry wins this round saying, "You wanted the past dead, and me along with it...apology accepted by the way."
We move along to the final scene, bringing to mind the first scene where Cal was.....shot.....and he meets up with a guy, saying "Any friend of Terry's is a friend of mine. *smile* "
Cal asks a few questions, pushing some buttons, and getting a gun pointed at his face. "He believes he's telling the truth." But Cal's got to see the guy with the money. Now, the average viewer would think that this is the scene where he get's shot, but before we hear the bang, we cut to commercial.
Thank God.
"Terry's with me." "Think about yourself." "Now you tell me." Hahaha, Cal's called in by the 'boss', but Cal requests to be with Terry. "Non-negociable."
Now the meet up with the REAL counterfit guy, and they see the money. "Bloody hell!"
That's alot of money.
Cal sets his baseline, "What's your name?" "Otto."
And so it begins.
--
Gillian's sitting with Stacy and Stacy starts to talk about P.E. and how bad it was. The Teacher knew about what was going on. In fact, he was the cause of it all. "I never harmed a hair on her head." "That's because we did it for you."
Loker can relate to this kind of behaviour, he was once a part of it when he was in school.
The P.E. teacher is done, and Gillian got it solved.
--
And if case B is solved, then that means that this is the last scene of case A.
Cal's breaking down all of the physical barriers of "Otto" pointing out a new 'shrug fragment' and saying those two immortal words, "He's lying."
Cue gun.
Shot.
Reyonalds.
And one hell of a commercial break.
Cal openes his eyes. (I knew it.)
"How's you do that? With your eyes?" lol
Cal get's up, brushing off his jacket, "I'm getting too old for this." (At this point I was just crying from happiness and laughter at the fact that he was OK, and that the first thing he says is 'How'd you do that?')
The guy that Cal spoke to was indeed FBI, he knew from the beginning, so he trusted him.
Cal let's Terry walk, Reyonalds says 'straight to the airport where he won't come back.' but Cal stops Terry, and right then and there, punches him. Right in the face. Ouch.
"Stop treating me like a moron." "You saw right through it, bu you still helped me." (Well of course he did, we needed another good plot!)
"...best mate." "Don't count on it. Debt is payed in full."
And Cal comes up with another great quirk (hahah) "All luck is earned...in the end."
Terry walks away, briefly turns, Cal snaps; "Don't you dare look back."
--
Cal come's 'home' to an intervention "It was only a few drinks...well more than a few."
Not about the drinks, ok; "Poker. 105 grand"
Not about the Poker, ok then, what's it about?
"Trust."
"We're a team."
This 'sets off' Cal, "YOU'RE ALL FIRED." -- no, wait, "You. JUST YOU." *pointing at Ria* (the look on her face was pricelss.)
As soon as Cal cracked a smile I just burst out laughing.
"We gotta do this again soon......very soon..."
Wow the humour in that place is cruel.
This was cute; the intervention was Gillian's idea. She's the one concerned about his saftey and we finally hear about his story with Terry.
"Once upon a time, in a kingdom far, far, away...lived two young rebels, one named Cal Lightman and the other Terry Mass. They got in a fickle with the cops and Terry took the wrap for Cal, sacrificing 3 years of his life for him. Now apparently after 3 years in jail, Cal believes that he now owes him his life. Well after this case, the debt was paid and what's done is done.
~The end.
"Night, love."

I just LOVED this episode. The layout of this episode was back to it's norm, and case B was once again shorter than case A, the way it should be. (MUCH easier to take notes this way.)
The case was interesting, funny, dramatic, intence...and everything that makes this show great, but what really intrugied me was, once again, the emotions. (That and Tim Roth, but that's another article all together... ^_^)
Let's start with the lesser characters...Loker, you're up!
Loker was hiding...again, he had good ideas, good quotes, but nothing specific to mess with his character, or any MEMORABLE quotes...like chimpanzee sex, or sex in general....ya....
Ria: Surprisingly, she wasn't involved much. Now that she knows alot more about the science, she's beginning to blend in a whole lot more with the team. (But now that Reyonalds is the 'new guy' she isn't really needed by the audience so much anymore) She was on her own for a smidge of a scene, showing the class the tape, and spotting the main students, but besides that...she was just hanging around.
Reyonalds: We see here that he does care about Cal and the team, and their saftey, and it's becoming more and more apparent as to why they wrote his character into this show. They needed some good ol' FBI action in here, and Reyonalds is the perfect character to throw into this mix.
At least we know we can trust him with Cal's saftey, but this one was pretty close. One day, he might not be so lucky.
Gillian: She had a small part, just interogating again, but once things got hot and she 'messed up/missed something' she really broke down. It was only temproary, but it was a breakdown none the less. I just want to see more on Gillian's past...please?!?
Cal: Well if you watched the episode, it was pretty much self explanitory. He looked AMAZING, (I almost fainted 4 times), and we got to see more about his rebellious past.
But just one request...I just want to see a 'friend' or just SOMEONE from his past (besides Zoe) to last for more than 1 episode that he dosen't get arrested, or close to it.
But...I just want to watch it again.
And again.....
And again.....
...and again....
