* I don’t own anything, they belong to CBS and anyone who has rights to CSI:NY. Mac and Stella belong to each other. :D

“I don’t know Mac.” She replied as she dialed 911 on her phone. “But you better remember what you did to her… She’s dead.”
A horrified look appeared on Mac’s face.
Who is this woman? What happened last night?
--
Mac pulled himself together and got up from his bed.
His mind was racing. What happened last night? Who is this woman? What did I do to her?
Stella was waiting outside his apartment, restlessly pacing on his front door.
“Stella… I…” Mac was confused and was at a loss for words. He took two deep breaths and continued.
“What are you doing here Stell?” he asked in a hushed voice.
Stella was gathering her thoughts, trying to digest and understand what she saw.
A dead woman… Mac… A primary suspect…
“Detective Bonasera?” A police in dark blue uniform appeared in the hallway.
“Yes,” she replied, extending her hand in a handshake. “Thank you for responding quickly.”
“Stella!” Flack was almost running towards their direction. “What’s up? You mind fillin’ me in on the details?”
Flack gestured towards the empty corner near the stairwell.
Stella followed him and started to talk.
“When I got here, I knocked on Mac’s door a couple of times but he didn’t answer.”
Flack fixed his eyes on her; quietly listening and noting down every detail she mentioned.
“I have a key to his apartment so I went in and when I got to the bedroom, I found the woman on top of him.”
Stella looked very uneasy now; holding back her tears.
“I was walking towards the door when I realized that something was wrong so I went back. The vic was lying still – very still. I tried to wake her up and when she didn’t, I checked for a pulse and… She was dead.”
The words hardly escaped Stella’s quivering lips.
From the corner of her eye, she saw Mac being interrogated by the captain.
Fear was evident in her eyes.
“What about Mac? Is he gonna be okay?”
Flack glanced at Mac and the captain.
“I’m not sure yet Stell. You’ll know when I know.”
--
The next morning…
“Where’s Mac?” Stella asked Lindsay.
“He’s not here yet. I heard about Mac. What happened Stell?”
Lindsay was concerned about Stella for she looked very troubled about this.
Stella simply shook her head and said, “I don’t know for sure yet, Lindsay.”
Before Lindsay could ask her another question, Stella quickly walked away.
“Stella, we’re being pulled off the case.” Said Hawkes, who joined her as she walked.
“Tried to appeal but, no luck. Here’s a copy of the case file.” He handed her a thick folder; she opened it and flipped through it immediately.
“Mac’s at the interrogation room; you can talk to him there if you want.”
Stella gave him a small nod and went on her way.
--
In the interrogation room…
“Mac,” said Stella as she entered the room. “Do you remember anything?”
Stella tried to keep a straight face; she didn’t want Mac to notice the effect this event has on her.
“All I remember is going to the bar, having a few drinks and walking home.”
Mac was staring at the table, avoiding Stella’s piercing stare.
“Everything else is a blur.”
Stella let out a sigh of frustration.
Mac fixed his stare at Stella now. “Have you ID’d the vic?”
“Uh… No, Mac. We were pulled off the case. I don’t know anything right now.”
It was obvious that Stella was hiding something; Mac could see right through her actions.
Mac eyed Stella and gave her a look that made her give in and tell him what she knew.
“The vic’s driver’s license was found in her purse; found on your bedside table. Name’s Alexx Caine.”
Mac closed his eyes; trying to remember how she got in his apartment.
Nothing. Absolutely nothing. He remembered absolutely nothing.

... "It stops: Stella Bonasera "....
URGENT!.-I opened and read:
"Stella, you will be transferred this week,of course,if you want !and that you will be the new department head .I hope your answer on Wednesday at 14:00.

I froze, did not know the answer, Mac and me had to talk to about it, uncertainty was already driving me crazy...
Until I took courage and decided to talk to mac.
and then I turned, I saw blue eyes staring at me with a look of doubt and the only thing I could say was:
-[b]MAC ?!
Continues... :)
