Metal Question

Can you recommend me to so good Metal bands?

I'm just starting to get into the whole metal thing and so far I listen to Linkin Park, Evanescence, and a little bit of Avenged Sevenfold and Black Veil Brides. But I want to discover more metal, maybe even heavier than any of these. Any suggestions?

Metallica is a classic metal band and is a good choice for people who are new to metal.

Iron Maiden is another classic metal band, not as heavy as Metallica but they use more melodies and have a very operatic vocalist.

Black Sabbath is the granddaddy of metal, and if you really want to go back, check out their old days with Ozzy.

Judas Priest is another classic band similar to Iron Maiden.

Slipknot/Korn/System of a Down are considered Nu metal bands who are fairly heavy, but do not use too many melodies in their songs, instead depending on their lyrics and guitars. They also scream and shout a lot.

Nightwish is symphonic metal band with a female vocalist; they combine orchestral elements with metal (very well I might add).

Death/Nile/Cannibal Corpse are pure death metal bands, very heavy and loud with growled vocals and often gory lyrics.

Amon Amarth/In Flames/Wintersun are melodic death metal bands, crossing the intensity of death metal with keyboards and melodies similar to Iron Maiden, my favorite genre of metal.

Whitechapel/Despised Icon are deathcore bands, probably the heaviest genre and use guttural growls and inhales as their vocal style.

Ensiferum/Korpiklaani/Finntroll are folk metal bands who play different varieties of metal and combine it with traditional European instruments and melodies, my second favorite genre of metal.

Black metal has a fairly large cult following throughout the world, but I don't like it very much. Generally with low production quality, these bands play the same notes on their guitars for most of their songs while growling. Also, their lyrics are very extreme, usually containing Satanic and Anti-Christian lyrics. If you do want to check it out, famous bands include Mayhem, Burzum and Darkthrone, while symphonic black metal (black metal with orchestal elements) include Dimmu Borgir, Shade Empire and Illnath, although the first two also have Satanic lyrics.

These are the main genres of metal (well, the ones I am most familier with). The bands I have listed are usually the most famous of the genre, so feel free to check out any of them and if you like them, find some more that play the same type of music.

Have fun exploring the world of metal!

Godsmack << Another Favorite(Disturbed Beats GS)
Metallica
Ozzy Osbourne
Rob Zombie
SOiL <Great One
White Zombie

The ones I put arrows towards I appreciate for certain reasons. Metallica is good for older Metal, actually responsible for bringing the Metal genre back to earth and has inspired many artists, I believe including my all time favorite, Disturbed! Also if you'd like to check out David Draiman's (Singer of Disturbed) side project, band named Device, you may like that as well. Hope this helped!
