Minecraft Question

What's the difference? Help please?

Between the desktop version and the pocket edition version. Are they both the same or what? Like...If you're using the pocket edition version and a friend is using the desktop version will you still be able to connect with them? Or do you both have to have the same versions? Also if you put that pocket edition version on a phone or tablet and that phone or tablet crashes will you be able to buy a new one being able to some how transfer Minecraft to it or no? Help please?

The desktop version and the pocket edition are two different things, I mean they are the same game but both platform (I.E Desktop and phone) it's on are different and are not connected with each other since both platforms are programed specifically to connect with it's own kind (like PC players connect to PC player, Xbox players connects with Xbox players and so on). The versions will always be behind the PC since Minecraft started and risen with the PC it's the most current version as of the Xbox and PE it's several versions behind (since they started later). and your phone crashes and able to transfer question... I can't answer that as I have no knowledge of it.

I wanted to get the cheapest version and that would probably be the pocket edition, but my guy has the PC version and I wanted to play with him.

If you want to play with him you might have to buy the PC version, because like I said the phone and PC are two different machines that are not programmed to connect with other platforms.

Unfortunately we just broke up. I was kind of having problems being with him around the time I made this post. So I can just get pocket edition now. If I can even play Minecraft without thinking of him :(

The PE, came out like in 2011, whilst the PC came out in 10th May 2009. I tried the Lite edition of the PE (which they don't sell anymore for no reason), it was bad, the space was limited, couldn't get ores etc. But that was the lite version which sucked... Maybe this could help somehow!
