Monster Rancher, known in Japan as Monster Farm (モンスターファーム, Monsutā Fāmu), is an anime and manga franchise created and owned by Tecmo in 1997. Like Pokemon, Monster Rancher is an anime and manga franchise that started with licensed games. The first Monster Rancher video game is the first Monster Rancher licensed product originally released on July 24, 1997 for PlayStation. A sequel, Monster Rancher 2, was released on February 25, 1999 also for PlayStation.
The Monster Rancher Anime Series is a television series based on the first 2 Monster Rancher games for PlayStation. The first Monster Rancher game was released in 1997. The Anime Series followed in 1999 after Monster Rancher 2 released during that same year.
There have been many successful anime for over the years like Pokemon, including Dragon Ball Z; Naruto; Fullmetal Alchemist; Attack On Titan; Inuyasha; Yu Yu Hakusho; Yu-Gi-Oh; Sailor Moon; and even Speed Racer! For example: Pokemon is right up there with the most successful anime of all time since it debut in 1997. Although Monster Rancher is that not sucessful compared to other anime like Sailor Moon and Pokemon, Monster Rancher was a fan favorite anime and you can watch Monster Rancher for many years to come.
There's also the Japanese version of Monster Rancher too. The Japanese version Monster Rancher was the original uncut, unedited anime TV show in Japanese. This original version has completely different, much better, completely superior dialogue, totally different music and sound, no cartoon sound effects, a whole lot of death, violence and blood which was edited out of the English version, characters have slightly different names, it includes Hare's gas attack, some sexual innuendo and it has a totally different intro and theme song!! While I personally think the in-show music in the English version is better overall. This is one of the most underrated and underappreciated shows of all time with one of the greatest endings of all time even though episode 48 is not the final episode. Although the original Japanese version is not very successful in Japan compared to other anime like Pokemon, it had a cult following to not only Japanse fans but also English fans too.
