Movies Question

On average, how much do actors get paid for movies?

I know it depends a lot, but say the movie made $1,000,000 at the box office, how much of that would go to the star?

this is very difficult to answer take the blair witch those actors only got 500 dollars and the movie made millions, actors get paid whether the movie is a flop or a blockbuster based on what they negotiatebut unless they are smart the box office sales usually go to the studio, the actors salary has already been added to the budget of the movie.

Honestly it depends on the Star, starting out actors can make $300 000, whereas someone like Brad Pitt can make up to $30 million a movie (maybe even more)

It depends on a lot of things.

If it's someone really famous and high demand they'll get millions for one movie. (Like for example Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Natalie Portman)

If the actor isn't famous or as high demand it will be in the thousands a lot of the time.

If the movie does really well they usually end up getting more.
So it really all depends.

It TOTALLY depends on how much you bring to the box office. If you are bankable at the box office, you make more money than say someone like....Eric Estrada. I've heard that Matt Damon is the MOST bankable for the males. I'm not sure if that's true.

well if you think about it back in the day actors had a set salary that they got for a film (whether it was a flop or a huge success) if the movie was a huge success the actor didn't get a percentage of the box office receipts even though the film was successful due in large part to them, so they were being cheated. Nowadays actors get both a salary and a percentage of the box office and as everyone said before it does matter who you are and what company your working for, independent films may only pay you in box office receipts or if the actor is big enough they sometimes do it for free!

Anything from nothing to minimum wage to way too many millions - dependant on several things but ultimately the ability to pull in the cash i.e. put bums on seats and discs in players! Those confident in the product will take pay cut to take points - so if the film does well they rake in more. Points from the likes of Avatar etc. is a very pretty paypacket!! In reality though it's like asking "how long is a piece of string" - Sorry there is no average answer. :-) Stevie
