2016 is a crazy good year for movies. Craaazy good, I tell you!

Some of these are already in theaters, but as I am a wait-for-DVD person, I haven't seen any of them yet. That doesn't mean I don't care about these movies - it just means that I'd rather enjoy them at home. Let's hear it for the introverts who hate traveling! Shh, enough of that, you may now quietly move on the list:

#16 - Pete's Dragon
I liked the old one when I was a kid, but was unable to watch it as an adult. Oh, the shame-induced goosebumps. *shudder* The trailer for this one looks very cool, it's got Bryce Dallas Howard, and the dragon doesn't look as nearly goofy as the animated one, so I'll give this one a shot at some point.

#15 - Shot Caller
To be quite honest, I'd forgotten this existed until I looked through IMDB's list of 2016 movies to see if I'd forgotten anything important while writing this. (Good call, me.) A crime thriller starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Jon Bernthal, and Lake Bell. Say no more, I'm already there. (But I really wouldn't object to a trailer and a poster, y'know.)

#14 - Now You See Me 2
Why wasn't this wasn't called Now You See Me Again? C'mon! Anyway, the Four Horsemen are back, and this time they have Lizzy Caplan instead of the redhead with the not-so-great accent. The first one was enjoyable, but what really sold the sequel was Lizzy. I'm sure seeing DanRad in a different kind of magical movie will be fun too!

#13 - Passengers
Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence in space. There's no trailer yet, not even a poster, and all I have to go by is the IMDB summary. But that's okay, Pratt and JLaw make everything they're in worth watching, so the two of 'em together should be epic.

#12 - The Magnificent Seven
The Magnificent Seven had me at Chris Pratt. And also I sometimes like westerns and stuff. But mostly Chris Pratt.

#11 - Deepwater Horizon
Based on a true story of an explosion of an offshore drilling rig and the worst oil spill in US History. This one looks like a real freakin' upper. But it has a great cast and looks like a fascinating (and probably depressing) story. Ugh fine, you win again, Wahlberg.

#10 - Finding Dory
It's the sequel to Finding Nemo. The turtles are in it. I looove those baby turtles. Like a lot. And the other characters and pretty scenery and stuff. So duh, Dory's a must.

#9 - The Shallows
Welp, there goes my summer vacation that I wasn't really going on anyway. This will be an interesting movie to watch, 'cause from what I see in the trailers, it's pretty much just Blake Lively and a shark. Probably won't be a whole lot of characters, or a whole lot of dialogue, just a woman trapped by a big-ass shark. I look forward to seeing how this plays out. (And by that, I mean confirming that she lives before I bother watching it.)

#8 - Whiskey Tango Foxtrot
WTF was in theaters already, but as I am not a big fan of theaters, I decided to wait for DVD. It comes out this month, and I'll be picking up a copy ASAP. Tina Fey being Tina Fey-ish as a reporter in a war zone. And also, Margot Robbie. Sold.

#7 - Everybody Wants Some!!
Again, already released in theaters, but I am a hermit crab who will be buying it on DVD instead to enjoy on the comfort of my own couch. Everybody Wants Some!! is written and directed by Richard Linklater and said to be a "spiritual sequel" to Dazed and Confused, which is my favorite movie of all-time. I can't NOT get this one.

#6 - The Ninth Life of Louis Drax
Well, it's supposedly coming out in 2016. No trailer. No posters. No news for ages. Whenever it does come out, I'd love to see how this mind-fuck of a book works as a movie.

#5 - Officer Downe
All I know about this is that it's based on a graphic novel and it stars Kim Coates as a cop who can't be killed. Turns out, that's all I needed to know.

#4 - War Dogs
I love Jonah Hill. I love Miles Teller. I loved the first trailer. I'm really looking forward to seeing how two of my favorite actors work together in this comedy-slash-drama. I mean, could you think of a more unlikely pair of arms dealers?

#3 - Super Troopers 2
No plot details right meow, but the Broken Lizard guys re-grew their mustaches and made a sequel to one of the best stoner movies of all time. Meow I cannot wait to see what kind of shenanigans the troopers have been up to.

#2 - Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children
I loved the books. Reluctantly at first, but then I fell pretty hard. A bunch of weird kids doing weird things while weirder things hunt them. Of course it had to be a Tim Burton movie. There have been a lot of adaptational changes that I'm not comfortable with yet, but hopefully they're for the best. Guess I'll find out in September.

Ghostbusters and Suicide Squad have been competing for first place since before the first trailers emerged. I've decided to just name 'em both #1.

#1 - Suicide Squad
Bad guys doing bad things while looking badass. Yes, yes, a million times yes. Great cast, great idea, many villains, much violence, I'll definitely be seeing this one in theaters.

#1 - Ghostbusters
Four ladies bein' funny, kickin' ass and pissin' off a huge portion of the fanboy population. Even if I didn't already love the cast, I'd have to see this one. For all womankind! (And to stick it to the haters who want this movie to fail, that'll be fun too. ;D)
