Nala was supposed to have a little brother name Mheetu created by Linda Woolverton specifically so Nala, his older sister, could protect him from the deadly clutches of Scar or his hyenas. He was cut out of the film because of time constraints and the idea was dropped because Woolverton felt that, after Mufasa's death, the film had gotten too dark. Also, she didn't know how to go about animating a concentration camp, thus this idea was dropped and they decided to focus of Simba and his new friends instead of Nala and her brother

Chapter 3 – A Big Cat’s Sense


    “So… How are you feeling, Timon?” asked Nala in a friendly manner, but with a slight smirk on her face. Timon looked pretty darn beaten and bruised after being the target for the two lionesses’ hunting practices the day before. “I’m doing just great!” he said sarcastically and angrily, as he walked along the forest floor weakly, “I’m glad that I could help you ladies with all your hunting exercises!” “Come on, Timon. It wasn’t that bad.” Kiara assured him. “You can say that. But, you don’t know the half of it!” Timon replied. “At least you had a good night’s sleep.” Nala contiuned. “Right… I would have if I could have slept on my back!” Timon yelled.

    “Sorry we had to put you through that, but you were just as the wrong place at the wrong time.”

    “Isn’t that the story of my life!?”

Now, let’s pick up the pace!” yelled Tigress to Crane and Monkey, who were severely lagging behind in step. “Oh… Why do we have to do this?” uttered Crane, “I don’t know how anyone can survive out here.” “Stop being a baby!” Tigress scowled. “I think I’m going to like it here!” exclaimed. “And we only wonder why.” Tigress replied, sarcastically. The three Kung Fu masters entered the jungle, with little water and no food with them.
