Who is N*E*R*D?
"No One Ever Really Dies"
The acronym N.E.R.D. stands for "No One Ever Really Dies," but childhood friends Chad Hugo, Pharrell Williams, and Shay most certainly used the group to proudly emphasize the nerdier aspects of their musical personalities. Pharrell Williams (vocals, keys, guitar) and Chad Hugo (guitar, bass) were signed by Teddy Riley to Virgin Records as a duo, The Neptunes. After producing songs for several artists like "Shake Ya Ass" by Mystikal, "Give It To Me (I Just Want To Love You)" by Jay-Z, "Beautiful" by Snoop Dogg and "What It Is" by Busta Rhymes throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s the production duo formed the band N.E.R.D. with Shay Haley (drums) as a side project. Their status went higher and higher and soon commercial acts like Britney Spears, Nelly, and Justin Timberlake were hiring them for their hit-making talents. N.E.R.D.'s debut album, In Search Of..., sold 603,000 copies in the United States and was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It was also awarded the second annual Shortlist Music Prize.
The band's second album, Fly or Die, sold 412,000 copies in the United States and was certified Gold by the RIAA. In 2005, N.E.R.D. ended their contract with Virgin and disbanded. Three years later, the band reunited under Star Trak Entertainment, a subsidiary of Interscope Records established by Williams and Hugo. The band's third album, Seeing Sounds, sold 80,000 copies in its first week. While N.E.R.D. has had some strange and deep metaphors it is the typical flossy, hip-hop that is made for the radio, the beats have a thick, soulful feel that your body loves even if your mind does not, Hip-hop is not the only thing The Neptunes are interested in. It is evident that they are into indie-rock and skater hardcore music on The N.E.R.D. Album Fly Or Die N.E.R.D. Featuring Joel Madden And Benji Madden, The song consists of mostly drums and electric beats. N.E.R.D. has a certain swagger thats hard to find now a days and satisfy almost any musical taste while introducing Your ears to new level of music and for that I can't get enough.
