Why I dont think we should argue about which villain is more evil
|
||
Okay, so there has been a lot of debate between people who prefer one of our villains over the other. People have said that the villain that they prefer is not really evil, or that the other villain is more evil, etc. Well, I wanted to write this article to say why I think the debate is pointless.
Before I begin I just want to say that I like both villains, so I do not mean to insult either one, or to insult the fans who like them. This is just my opinion, so I ask people not to get mad. One reason why I think the debate is pointless is because I believe that both villains are evil. Now, fans of Regina may say that she is not evil. She is doing what she does because her mother treated her cruelly and she lost the love of her life. Now, Emma is trying to take the child that Regina raised. Those things did happen, and I actually understand some of her actions. However, just because actions are understandable does not make them justified. Regina has hurt and killed people. She even killed her father, who she loved. She may eventually redeem herself, but her actions, no matter how much she herself has been hurt, have been evil. Then there is Rumplestiltskin. People may say that he is not evil because he loves Belle and Bael. However, like Regina, he has killed and hurt many people. Also, let us not forget that he is the one who created the curse that Regina cast. Also like Regina, Rumple even hurt the people . he loves. He let Bael go alone through a portal, and, in the finale, he even chose power over getting Bael back. As for Belle, he kept her captive. People can say that she went by her own free will, but she only went so that he would help her kingdom. If she was not a captive, then she would have been allowed to leave the castle before the time when she met Regina. That is why I think it is pointless to claim that either character is not evil. I also think it is pointless to argue which character is more evil because there is so much that we dont know yet. We dont know what will happen, and, because of the format of the show, we have yet to see everything that has already happened to these characters, so we cant know everything that they have done, or fully understand their motives, We also dont know if either one will redeem themselves. To end, let me say again that I like both villians. This article is not to insult either character or their fans. If you think that one character is not evil, or is less evil than the other, that is fine. In fact, at this point, I myself have one that I would say is more evil than the other. As I said, though, there is just so much that we dont know, so nothing is written in stone. |

Sorry for ranting but I had to get it out. And I'm not trying to offend you or anything you're just trying to stop the fights. And believe me I want the fighting to stop to, but Yavone and I need to work with each other and I don't think she wants to work with me. I've tried appoligizing and making peace but it's not working, I just don't know what to do and I feel bad because I feel like I'm ruining the spot for people.
We all Oncers here !!! And we all have a different favorite charachters. Let's stop fighting about this.
However, I don't think it's bad for people to argue about which villain is more evil. Personally, I think it's harmless. It's only bad when you start with the pointless hate and stuff.
I love both these characters, so it is kind of hard for me to be objective. And while the majority of what you said is true, I'm going to have to disagree with you on the Belle thing. She was not a captive, okay. He named his price, thus giving her the power to say no. He made a deal with her, a deal she agreed to. He didn't run into her house and kidnap her and never let her go. He asked her if she would go if it meant he'd save her town, and she agreed. She was not his captive in any way, shape, or form. I know this falls under justification of his actions, and I'm not saying it makes him any more or less evil than Gina, I'm just stating my opinion on the matter. However, being the massive Rumbeller you all know, my opinion may be corrupted.
Honestly, I have always believed that no one is truly good or evil. I think everyone on the show has bits of good and evil in them.
@zanhar1-Haters gonna hate (trust me, I know. Rumbelle haters are vicious!) just don't let it get to you, love. No reason to hate, and I've seen your arguments with Yvonne, and I can tell that neither of you mean to personally attack each other. It's all good, and I think we all understand each others opinions in the long run.
I've seen arguments about it on fanpop and outside as well (tumblr, fansites, etc.) and I always thought it was harmless until the ridiculous hate started.
It's ridiculous when people say, "Well Rum has good in him but Regina is just completely evil" or vis versa because that's not true, I 100% agree with you. Obviously, both characters have a certain balance of good and evil in them and every argument a person has about how Regina's not evil will instantly be fought back with a reason Rum isn't evil, and quite honestly, I don't mind those arguments, but the name calling and stuff is just not cool for either party.
Anyway, I'm agreeing with you in a long way haha :)
Regina probably used Rumples blade of power to (supposibly) kill her mother with it and she mistakenly became as evil as Cora ever was! :-/
