I heard a scream from outside the door, thinking that something had to be wrong. It was Percy’s scream, and Percy rarely ever screamed unless he was in serious trouble. I grabbed Percy’s sword off the nightstand and went toward the door, forgetting everything else. I only cared about saving him. I threw my phone in my pocket and grabbed his before uncapping Riptide and running out to the hall before I could stop myself.
Percy was pinned to the floor by Luke’s foot and his minions noticed me. They were the same Vrykolakas minions I’d seen a year and four months ago when I was captured by Luke on my wedding day.
No matter how much Percy tried, Luke didn’t let him up. He looked up and saw me, smiling. “Hello, Annabeth. Did you get my text?” I looked at him, puzzled.
“What text?” I asked.
“I sent you a text a few minutes ago.” He looked at his phone as if to make sure. Why were we talking texts when my husband was pinned under my worst enemy’s foot? Still, I pulled out my phone and flipped through the texts, seeing I didn’t have any new ones. I looked at Percy’s phone and read the text.
“You tried to kill Percy. I’ll kill you first.” I raised the sword to knock him off his feet, but he only laughed.
“Don’t bother, love. Why can’t you understand that I loved you way before he did, and yet you choose him over me? Why?” Percy kept trying to escape, but Luke didn’t let him up. Percy pleaded with his eyes and I nodded.
“He’s a good person, he was there for me when you tried to kill us, you poisoned Thalia’s tree…after everything you did, I don’t want you.” I hissed as I connected my eyes to Percy’s, seeing that what sparkled in his eyes was pure love.
“I love you Annabeth.” Luke begged.
“Well, I love Percy.” I snapped. Luke stood there, shocked, which Percy took as an opportunity to whirl out from under his foot and stand next to me.
He smiled at me, and grabbed Riptide out of his hand. “You nearly killed the one you wanted most. I would have killed you then, but Annabeth didn’t want me to. Annabeth, you have to tell me what to do.” Percy leveled the sword and looked back at me.
How am I supposed to choose? Luke had been with me before Percy, but he was there when Luke wasn’t. Percy had protected me, and we’d been married. He let me be myself. I didn’t have to be someone I wasn’t around him. I loved him, but Luke was still in my heart too.
“Annabeth?” Percy asked. I bit my lip.
“Just do it and get it over with. I can’t look.” I closed my eyes as Percy stepped toward Luke, but I opened my eyes, and saw that Luke was gone before Percy could finish the job. He didn’t take off running; he just disappeared into thin air. Percy looked around, but Luke was nowhere to be found.
“Annabeth, do you love Luke anymore?” Percy asked.
“Of course not. I love you.” I grabbed his hand and looked deeply into his eyes.
“Did you love him before me?” His eyes begged as my heart was thrown into a violent pain.
“I never loved him other than like a brother. If I really loved him, I would have married him.” My words came out in a hushed whisper.
“I love you too, Annabeth.” He gathered me in his arms. As soon as I did, I seemed to crumble so Percy had to support me. “Annabeth, will you marry me again?” He got down on one knee and grabbed my hand.
“What do you think, Seaweed Brain?” I threw his old nickname in his face.
“Watch it, Wise Girl.” He cautioned. I rolled my eyes and smiled before hugging him. After changing back into an extra T-shirt and jeans that Percy had brought for me, I was led to his car. I noticed that he still had dried blood on his hands.
“Whose blood is that?” I asked, grabbing his hand and staring at it.
“Yours.” He responded, trying to wipe the blood on his jeans even though I didn’t even come close to letting his hand go.
“Gods!” I couldn’t believe the blood was mine. I couldn’t have bled that much.
“You’re fine. I’ll always protect you.” He promised, actually taking my hand in his own, and staring into my eyes. I sighed and tried to look away, but his hand caught my face to hold me there. “I love you.” Emotion covered his voice, and he waited for my reaction as if this was the first time he’d said it.
“I know.” His eyes sparkled and he smiled as the words left my mouth. Despite everything, I knew that I was going to be alright. I had Percy, and at that second, when he kissed me, nothing else mattered. When I pulled back, he smiled and pushed the hair off my forehead before turning and getting the car on the road.
A flash of light exploded in the road that was so bright we had to shield our eyes. Good thing too, because when we looked up again, Athena, Poseidon, Zeus, and Aphrodite were standing there. After sitting in a daze for about thirty seconds, we unbuckled our seat belts and jumped out of the car.
We knelt at the god’s feet, not saying a word or looking up in fear of being blasted to bits.
“Rise.” Zeus barked.
We stood, but it did take a few seconds.
“Annabeth and Percy. I hear you two want to be married again. Aphrodite, you should be happy.” Zeus started, but he mumbled the second part. This was not going to be good.
Athena wouldn’t accept the fact that we loved each other when we were married, so I doubt she would accept it now. I wanted to plead with my mother, but I was afraid to speak, so Zeus kept going.
“If you want to be married again, you’ll have to get your parents approval. Athena, you may begin.” Athena looked down at us as the words left the sky god’s mouth. I became nervous. I felt like hiding, but if I ran now, something would happen; it always did.
“Poseidon and I dislike each other; however it is true that I want what’s best for Annabeth. Mr. Jackson, you are who Annabeth wants, and I won’t stand in the way of that. I give my full blessing.”I must’ve seemed pretty shocked because Athena looked down at me and smiled.
“Poseidon, you may begin.” Zeus told him and nodded at him.
“There is nothing I don’t like about Annabeth. She’s definitely smart, and pretty, like her mother, and I think they make a good couple. I give my full blessing.” Poseidon smiled at his son and nodded, probably not all that aware that he had just given my mother a compliment.
With a wave of the sky god’s hand, a gust of wind blew over us, and when I looked down, I saw we were wearing the exact same things we’d worn on our wedding day, but there was no dirt or blood.
“Do you, Perseus Jackson, take Annabeth Chase to be your godly wedded wife?” Zeus asked.
“Of course I do.” He whispered.
“Do you, Annabeth Chase, take Perseus Jackson to be your godly wedded husband?” Zeus turned to me as Aphrodite smiled.
“I do.” My voice came out as no more than a whisper, but apparently that whisper was enough.
“I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.” Aphrodite was dabbing at her eyes dramatically as the words poured over us. Percy didn’t even wait for Zeus to finish before his kiss crushed my lips. I smiled and pulled back, seeing the happiness in his eyes as he kissed me again, wrapping me in his arms in eternal bliss.

Part 3

It was I’d say about nine in the morning when the train broke down, which was just our luck, in some city still in Wyoming. We had to get off the train, and the next train wouldn’t come for a long while, so we decided to walk it until further notice. It was until we finally sat down after walking a while when I realized I was really hungry. “You guys, we haven’t eaten in hours!” I complained. “Actually, I ate someone’s purse.” Cyrus jumped in. I raised an eyebrow at him. “What? Great iron supplements. Really filling, you know.” I sighed. “Anyways, I see a sub shop...

“So, Perseus Jackson, what will it be? Will you accept our generous gift?” Zeus demanded, his eyes flashing with barely contained lightning as always.
The gods had just offered me to be…well, a god. One of them, immortal, powerful, not having to worry about any other stupid prophecy. Who could say no to that?
I glanced back to see Thalia smiling at me serenely but the smile didn’t quite reach her eyes. My eyes wandered around the room and gazed at the mighty faces of the Olympian gods. Apollo, Ares, Aphrodite, Demeter, Dionysus – did I want to be like them? Poseidon, my father, Athena...
