I heard something outside my window?

I started leaving my window open at night because people where saying to do that and also sing so I did. I heard footsteps outside and they came closer to my window, I got so scared to move. I didn't know what it was and still don't, it could have been an animal but it's weird that it happened like maybe two nights or three idk it felt like someone was watching me. It really scared me though. Idk if that was a sign. It feels weird to think it would be since I'm a bit skeptical still about this all. I want to know what anybody thinks about this.
