Do I Lack Imagination?

I want to write a story, but I don't know what to write about. Usually, when I'm daydreaming about my own little fan-fiction, I start out with an idea I got from a book or a TV show, but then I'll get so carried away, I start making up my own stuff to call the story my own. But when I want to write my own story to actually have other's read, I can't think of a plot. Do I lack imagination? Or am I trying too hard?

Mmm, I don't think you lack imagination, I think you probably get too many ideas and you can't fit them into a good plot, you should try looking at your ideas a little more and see how you can fit them into a good plot.

No. It sounds like you've got plenty of imagination - now you just have to use it creatively. I suggest taking your time and working on it for a bit - that's a good way to work out an idea for a plot. Try carrying around a notebook, too - so if you have an inspirational idea, you can just jot it down straight away.
