(I posted this before, but I finally decided to renamed the story. I may eventually change more things, but I wanted to show you guys what I had so far.)
Book 1: Past
Chapter 1: Genesis, Part 1: It Begins
The future: They say it is full of surprises, twists and turns and no one knows where God may lead us. That is true, especially for the people of Crimsonville, TN. And within the next century, a mystery had risen--an evil, sinister plot that remained unknown to the world--and that only those involved knew of it. Well, no one knew until recently. Our story begins on May 10th 2112 at 3:00 pm. Our hero of the story, Josiah (a 22-year-old male, with short brown hair and green eyes), and his younger sister, Bryxx (a 20 year old, who had long brown hair and hazel eyes), were in a local park. They were in the middle of a skycycle race, zooming around the park with the warm sun shining down on them. The part of the park they were in was a special area for racing so there was no one around but them.
"Hey, Bry... Are you jealous that I'm beating you?" he asked, while laughing.
Bryxx rolled her eyes and smiled, saying, "No, because I'm beating YOU!"
She turned the handle bar on the skycycle to go faster and she was getting ahead of him--giving Josiah a taunting laugh as she did so. She was kind of getting on Josiah's nerves, which made him angry. He zoomed after her in anger and was about to reach the finish line--a huge tree ahead--when suddenly, Josiah got a strange feeling and stopped his skycycle in midair. Bryxx kept going, but then she realized that he had stopped. She looked back and then proceeded to fly back to where Josiah was and asked, "Are you OK, Josiah?"
Josiah looked around for any sign of someone that may be watching them, but saw nothing.
"I'm fine, I just got this weird feeling, like someone was watching us.... Do you feel it, too?" he asked her.
She looked around also, but saw no sign of anyone around the area.
"No, I don't...." she added back.
Afterwards, they both deactivated their skycycles and they slowly morphed back into a "pod" like form. After they put their skycyle pods in their pockets, beeping sounds were heard from her right glove that she wore. It wasn't an ordinary glove--the two gloves she was wearing were her iGloves, basically the same as an iPad but different. She twisted her right wrist, and it a hologram appeared before her, displaying the name of who was calling. It was her boyfriend calling her, but she chose not to answer him, and twisted her wrist once again, to turn the hologram off.
"You're not answering it?" he asked her, making a brief pause in his question.
Bry looked at him and smiled, saying, "Nope. I broke up with that guy a month ago, and he won’t take a hint...."
She laughed at that, and put her device back in her pocket. Josiah rolled his eyes and followed her.
"So... Bry?" he asked, looking down as if to avoid her answer.
"Yes? Something on your mind?" she asked him back.
Josiah thought for a moment and almost didn't wanna say anything back.
"I was hoping we could at least talk more about Jesus, and getting you--" he said, being cut off by Bryxx's sigh.
She looked at him and replied, "Look, I'm sorry but... I'm just not ready for Him yet, OK? I'm sorry..."
Then she began to walk away as the clouds rolled in above them from the sky. Josiah felt sad. He wanted his sister to be baptized, but what was he supposed to do? He knew he couldn't force her into it.
"Bryxx, wait! Please!" he shouted, running after her.
Before he got to her, some old woman came to him. She saw him and her wrinkly face lit up--as if she was seeing someone she met before. The woman wore some old pink dress that looked a tad outdated, as if it was from the 21st century.
"It's you... I know I'd see you again." the woman said, giving Josiah a happy grin.
Josiah was utterly freaked at this. Who was this woman? He didn't have the slightest clue. He was just standing there, unsure of what to say.
"Excuse me, but who are you?" he asked, with a puzzled face.
She saw that he really didn't know her and she looked away a bit, giving off a sad look as she stared at the sky. She looked back at him and said with a disappointed sounding tone, "Oh, that's right, you haven’t done it yet. There's no point in"
"Telling me what?" he asked her, sounding a little concerned this time.
She was about to tell him but decided not to. Instead she just simply said, "In time you'll know."
Then she walked away, leaving both Josiah and Bryxx clueless as to who in heck she was, and what she was talking about.
"Bro, is she a friend of yours?" asked Bryxx.
Josiah shook his head "no" and then replied, "No, all my friends are around my age. Whoever she is, she must be some nutcase..."
Bryxx agreed with Josiah and twirled her fingers around her ear and laughed, walking away. Josiah laughed a little as well, and then noticed her leaving.
"Bryxx? Where are ya going?" he asked.
She stopped and then said, "To the mall, bro. I need some new clothes."
She looked down at her outfit, which was some pink and green metallic shirt with long pink pants--also in a shiny metallic design.
"See? These clothes are so YESTERDAY. I don't really like pink anymore," she said with a frown, then sticking her finger in her mouth as if to gag.
“But..... shouldn't we get home? I’m sure Grandma is on her way there,” he added.
She wore a disgusted look, and told him, “Do we have to go NOW? We were just now having fun...”
Josiah sighed, saying, “Look, we've been out all day, maybe we should relax? Invite some friends over?”
“You mean from church? Sorry, those hypocrites aren't my kinda people....” Bryxx replied.
Afterwards, she walked away from him, intending on going shopping anyway. Josiah hesitated a moment before actually following her.
“Wait! Just listen to me for a second....” he added.
But as they were walking, her iGloves were beeping again. She twisted her wrist, and it displayed a holographic text of a message from their grandmother, in mid air.
"It's grandma...." she stated, using her fingers to touch the hologram and see what she wrote.
The message read, "Sorry to interrupt your fun, but we're on our way back. Please come home ASAP."
“Well, guess the mall’s outta the question... but you could shop at home, right?”
“Yeah, we better go...” she added, not really wanting to go back home.
Later that day, Bryxx and Josiah arrived home to their futuristic home, a four story tall, metal home with large windows that wrap around part of the house itself. There was a door there, of course--made of metal. Most houses in this time have voice-recognition doors--making it safer and easier to protect your house. The voice box on the door "spoke" and said, "Name, please...”
"Bryxx Mayzer. Now let us in, you stupid metal door!" she shouted angrily, while kicking it.
Josiah sighed and said, "Josiah Mayzer. Sis, come on, try being more patient."
The door opened up and they walked inside the house. Bryxx then took her pink jacket that she had on, and threw it on the long, yellow couch.
"Yeah, whatever," she said, walking to the elevator.
She pushed the button and walked inside. They both noticed the house was quiet, like no one else was there. It felt somewhat eerie.
"I guess Grandma's not here yet..." she told him.
She walked over to the elevator and pushed the “up” button on it. She looked at Josiah and asked, “Hey, you want a ride up? I’m heading to my floor....”
"Yeah, sure," she added back.
The door opened, and they both got inside. And while inside, the elevator began moving upward. As they stood there, Josiah looked down at the floor and noticed a black circle design on it, which appeared to be made of glass. He had noticed this before, but finally decided to see what it was this time.
"I wonder what this is..." he thought to himself.
He tapped his foot on it, and Bry asked, "What're you doing?"
He tapped his foot HARDER, and managed to break the glass, revealing a secret button. They were both surprised at this, and Josiah said, "I... think I found a hidden button. But to where?"
Bryxx looked down at the button--noticing how well hidden it seemed to be. She became suddenly interested in its origins--mainly wanting to see where it leads.
Bry shrugged and said, "Don't know, don't care... But I'm SO pushing it."
She smiled as she stomped on it, making the elevator made a humming sound, going down into some new part of the house--a basement. After the door opened, they were instantly embraced by the cold, yet dusty air that was inside the place--both of them coughing a bit from it. They waved their arms around, trying to get the dust to go away. Seconds after that, the lights within the room turned on, and they both began to walk inside. It wasn't that big of a room though--and not much in it but a small metal door on the wall. It looked as though the place hadn't had anyone down there in quite some time--a decade ago, perhaps?
"I don't remember ever coming across a basement. Do you?" he asked her.
Bryxx shook her head "No" and continued forward into the room, still looking around. She coughed as she walled further--the dust was getting to her. She then noticed the small metal door, which had an electric lock and voice recognition for a password.
"Josiah, look!" she shouted, running to the door.
Josiah glanced at it and was like, "A metal door? Weird... what's in it?"
Bryxx knelt down to try and open it, and got frustrated doing so--letting out a loud groan.
"Do I LOOK like I know?" she asked sarcastically as she reached in her pocket and held out a rather tiny device.
"Bry? What's THAT you're holding?" he asked her.
She showed him and shrugged, saying, "Just a lil' gadget a got from this girl I met."
She then pushed a button or two on the device and blue light came from it and shown over the electronic lock--enabling her to unlock it without the need for passwords. Josiah crossed his arms at this and was slightly disappointed.
"Seriously? You can't go ten minutes without doing something illegal?" he asked, raising an eye brow.
Bryxx rolled her eyes and ignored his question, finally getting the door to open. She then saw two small, wrist worn devices, which had grey as a base color, one having red designs on it and the other blue. They each had a holographic display. She pulled out the blue one and smiled.
"Hey, bro, look it's a….” she said, pausing for a sec as she wondered WHAT that was.
Josiah saw it and freaked--his eyes grew wide in terror.
"Bryxx! Put that down, that’s a Chronolizer!" he shouted, getting more worried by the minute.
"Yeah, so? Do I care?" she asked.
"Are you joking? They're illegal! If we're even caught with one, we're busted!" he shouted, garbing it from her.
Bryxx got peeved at this and snatched it back in anger.
"So? I don't give two craps. Besides, it may not work," she said, strapping it to her wrist.
She tried to turn it on, but nothing happened. Bryxx looked at Josiah, and said, "See? I told you it wouldn't work..."
Then she figured it was voice-activated so she then said, "Chronolizer.... ON."
And of course, it finally turned on and a small humming sound was heard from it as it lit up with a blue colored light. When they saw this, Bryxx was thrilled while Josiah was horrified. It took her a few seconds to figure out how it works. She told the machine which date she wanted to go to, but before she could do anything else, Josiah tried to stop her.
"Bry, stop! You don't know what you're getting into!" he shouted.
They fought over it. He tried grabbed it from her, but she resisted and elbowed him hard in the chest.
"Get off me, Josiah!" she shouted.
Josiah was hurt by the elbow stab and yet, continued to get it.
"I'm sorry, but I'm not letting you get us arrested!" he shouted.
She had had enough of this and finally kicked him down to the floor, landing hard. She looked at him and stuck her tongue at him and said to the machine, "GO!" Then a weird light blue energy from the Chronolizer surrounded her as he watched this happen.
"See ya later, bro..." she said, giving him a smirk as the energy caused a flash of light.
After the flash, she was gone. She had been sent somewhere in time, but where? And what is Josiah gonna do now? Leave her? Or save her?
