I don't really know a whole lot about James, so I went with Lupin. I think it makes sense to pick Lupin. As stickymonkey said, I really even don't like James. I don't like the whole Potter family. I like the Malfoy's. Also as idolpottergleek said. It's not even fair to say James is the better one, because he tortured Snape. TOTALLY NOT COOL!! Snape is one of my favorite people. That is my opinion.

I like them both a lot. James changed when he grew up you know, he wasn't always the 15 year old arrogant jerk. For all we know, he was a good father to Harry and a great friend to Sirius and Lupin. So everyone who's talking trash about James, lay off! I'm sure he would've patched things up with Snape eventually. But yeah, Lupin is awesome too!

I really like Lupin! He was the only Marauder who had a lick of compassion in him and he made one heck of a DADA teacher!

definitly Lupin, James treats people badly and is really arrogant. Lupin is so much cooler, and sweeter, and better looking too, in my opinion.

Lupin is my favorite character next to Snape.

James TREATED people badly and WAS really arrogant. But he changed. Didn't any of you haters listen to Sirius and Remus? He was the best friend they had and was always there for them. Obviously he wasn't arrogant anymore or Lily wouldn't have gone out with him. Why is it that if Snape bullies his students AND Harry, all is forgiven when we find out he protected Harry against Voldemort, despite hating him, and when we find out James bullied and hated Snape because of his interest in the Dark Arts, everyone thinks he's an asshole?! He joined the Order and died trying to protect his wife and son. James doesn't deserve to have this many people hate him like this; except maybe the um, different people who like Voldemort and his Death Eaters.

I love the both men, but Remus Lupin is my favorite. :-)

Remus was very talented, he was able to nonverbal spells and was one of the only people to not be severely injured at the Battle of the Department of Mysteries. Plus, he's my most favorite person in the whole entire universe.

Even though James grew up and I could see some of the person he became, I will always love Remus more.
