"YES! PLEASE! JUST STOP!" She wails through tears, as my father's fist puts her in her place.
Scared out of my mind, I ran up and hid in my room. Clutching my stuffed wolf, mumbling and rocking myself, hoping it would be over soon...
I awoke several hours later, dry tears covered my face, as I peeked through the small bottom opening in my closet. It had been a long time since I heard anything... Maybe daddy's gone? Mayb I can finally see mommy...
I slowly open the door, and crawl on all fours across what was my room. Daddy had made me sleep in the attic, where it was cold in the winter and really hot in the summer. I had a small bed with little blanket. A few toys or pencils, a closet and a small dresser.
I stood up, dusting my hand-me-down pants, clutching my wolf even tighter. My wolf, or 'Wolfy' the name I had given him, was the only gift I had recieved since my second birthday. After that, daddy didn't buy me anything else, and mommy was to scared to even ask for money from him.
I walked slowly towards the door, and placed my ear upon it. I heard nothing, not even the cries of mommy or the yelling of daddy. It seemed safe to go out, so I opened the door, the long dark staircases greeting me with their familair smell of stinky grape juice and gross sparkly lemonade.
I placed one foot on the first step and it let out a loud, CREAK! and the empty stairway made the sound even louder than it was supposed to be. I quickly shut the door and scurried into my closet. Hoping daddy didn't hear that. If he didn't come up, that ment he was gone and I could go see mommy.
I heard some yelling and the breaking of cups and the long bottles daddy drinks out of.
I swallow and clutch tighter to Wolfy, hoping daddy wouldn't come up here. I was wrong.
I heard his loud and noisy footsteps run up the attic stairs as fast as he could. I was shaking like a leaf in a cool autumn breeze as I quickly hide Wolfy under some dirty clothes before daddy burst through the door.
I squeaked out a small scream and hid under a box, hoping he didn't hear anything. I could hear his footsteps wondering around the room, trying to find me. I shook, tears poring down my face.
The closet door flung open, as the box was pulled from under me and I was lifted up 4 feet into the air by my hair.
"DADDY! PLEASE! STOP! ALICE DIDN'T MEAN TO! I WANTED TO SEE MOMMY!" I wailed, trying to free me hair from my fathers grip.
"WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABOUT GOING DOWNSTAIRS WHEN I'M HOME YOU FILTHY BRAT?!" He shouts, as he opens the door leading to the attic stairs and threatens to throw me down.
"DADDY! I DIDN'T MEAN TO! I DIDN'T KNOW YOU WERE HOME! PLEASE DON'T THOW ME! PLEASE!" I cried and cried but it did nothing to change his mind.
Before I knew it, I was thrown against cold stairs, as my nails dug into the wood to prevent me from falling any further. Daddy was angry, and ran down, almost stepping on my fingers before the door opened and mommy came and grabbed me.
She ran as fast as she could towards the bathroom and locked the door when she got in.
"GOD DAMNIT WOMEN! IF YOU DON'T OPEN THIS DOOR RIGHT NOW, IT WILL BE THE LAST YOU'LL EVER SEE OF YOUR PRECIOUS LITTLE BRAT!" Daddy howlers.
Mommy is crying, and hands me some band aids and a wet rag to clean myslef up. She kisses my head and opens the door.
I hear a smack, a scream, daddy and mommy shouting and I grab the wet rags and band aids and hide in the bathroom closet. Now, I was really alone. No mommy, no daddy, and no Wolfy to comfort me now...
