On MBC’s New Year Special ’2012 Idol Star Alkkagi Championship’, which will be aired at 9.05am KST on January 22nd, Girls’ Generation, T-ara, Super Junior, SHINee, Sistar, Miss A, Rainbow, Infinite and other idol groups vyed for the strongest Alkkagi contestant title based on tournament format.

In the surprise match, ‘Show! Music Core Battle of The Strongest’, MBLAQ faced Prince of Ballad, Lee Hyun while Queens of Kpop, Girls’ Generation took on T-ara in the game of Alkkagi.

In addition to that, Roo’ra’s Go YoungWook went up against Kim JiHyun while H.O.T’s Moon HeeJoon and Tony Ahn played against each other. After the game, the junior idol members pulled offbrilliant performances of H.O.T’s ‘Candy’ and Roo’ra’s ‘Angel Without Wings’.

The KBS2′s Wednesday and Thursday drama series Wild Romance‘s OST which was released on January 19th, 2012, “Perhaps,” sang by Jessica Jung and Kim Jin Pyo, is topping the musical chart.

The OST sang by Jessica and Kim Jin Pyo is receiving enthusiastic praises from the audience. The competitive songs, the OST of MBC’s The Moon that Embraces the Sun, Back in Time, ranked at third place, while OST of SBS’s Take Care of Us, Captain, It’s Cold, ranked at forth position.

On the other hand, Jessica who plays the role of ex-lover of hero Park Moo Yul (Lee Dong Wook) will debut on January 25th, 2012.

Girls’ Generation Wins the Digital Daesang award for the 26th Golden Disk Awards.

The 26th Golden Disk Awards in Osaka was held in the Kyocera Dome, Osaka, Japan on January 11-12 as a two-day award event. Girls’ Generation came on the second day, wearing dark-toned dresses as they graced the red carpet.


At around 8:40 p.m., the nine girls received a Digital Bonsang award for their 2011 Korean single, “The Boys”. They expressed their thoughts after winning by saying, “Thank you to the fans who love not only one track ‘The Boys’, but the 3rd album as a whole. In the future, we will be a more hardworking Girls’ Generation.”

Fans were delighted when they received the news, and “Congrats SNSD” soon appeared on the worldwide trending topics list on Twitter. The two words managed to reached the third rank on the list in a short span of time.
