Scotty's Audition

I'd call it a boring, tedious, frustrating sport. But I guess peaceful works, too. That's how Scotty McCreery described golf when he told me he'd be spending part of Tuesday (Nov. 15) playing at the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.

When I asked him how he'd spent the day getting ready for the CMA Awards last week, he said, "I was gonna go hit golf balls, but it didn't happen. I got a new set of clubs I wanted to try. Scotty McCreery's older sister, Ashley McCreery, who is currently studying at UNC Charlotte says that she struggled with finding her brother a Christmas gift this year, stating "He has everything!"

Indeed 18 year old Scotty has had a full, busy 2011! The still-high school-student not only won the fan voted reality television show 'American Idol', but he released his first debut album 'Clear As Day' which is reaching 800,000+ in sales, has a platinum single, two music videos, and won Best New Artist at this year's American Country Awards! What more could you ask for!?

Raleigh, N.C. — "American Idol" winner and Garner native Scotty McCreery will serve as grand marshal of the 2011 WRAL-TV Raleigh Christmas Parade presented by the Greater Raleigh Merchants Association.

More than 60,000 people are expected to line the streets to watch the parade on Nov. 19. It's the largest Christmas parade between Atlanta and Washington D.C.


"It means a great deal to me to serve as grand marshal of this parade," McCreery said in a statement. "I’m really glad to be able to get out there and see all of the hometown folks. I know it will be fun."
