Sherlock sat waiting in the interview room, he always knew he would be behind the desk as a criminal at some point. After a minuet, Bell came in.
'Detective.'
'Mr Holmes.' He sat down. 'It's been awhile.'
'Almost a month, i believe.' Bell put the case file on the desk.
'Shall we?.' He opened it and spread the contense across the desk. 'Feel free to look.' Holmes lent forward in his seat. 'Now care to explain your relationship with Miss Adler?.'
'There is no relationship.'
'Really? then how come we found this picture of you?.' He pushed it towards Sherlock.
'That was from a few years ago.'
'But you did have a relationship with her?.'
'What does this have to do with anything?.' Bell produced the plane ticket.
'Care to explain?.'
'It's a plane ticket. So?.'
'Why does it have your name on it? And where did you get it from?.'
'Irene gave it to me. She wanted me to go to London with her. But as you can see i didn't.' Sherlock sat back in his chair.
'So where is she now?.'
'I don't know.'
'Why did you run?.'
'I was about to get arrested for being innocent. I haven't seen Irene since she gave me the ticket.'
'But you still ran, why not tell us?.'
'Because you would have had me locked up for days. Oh by the way since when did you become captain?.' Bell shifted uncomfortably in his seat. 'You haven't, but your planning it aren't you? You think you can do a better job then Gregson, all you have to do is convince the chief of police.'
'Why did you run?.' Sherlock smiled, he knew he was right.
'I told you.'
'But you still could have told us that you haven't seen her since then and we might have let you go.'
'Might of?.'
'Well we can't let you go now. You prevented the course of justice and we have evidence that says you were about to leave the city with the accused.'
'But as you can see i didn't, i left the ticket at home.' Bell got up from his seat.
'I'll be back soon.' He left the room and Gregson came in.
'You ok?.'
'I'm fine. You do know that Bell is after your job?.'
'I'm aware. Don't worry i'll make sure you won't have to go to court over this. Anyway i have someone here to see you.' He left and Joan came in. Sherlock got up and hugged her.
'When did Bell agree to this?.'
'He didn't.' She pulled away gently so she could see his face. They smiled at each other. 'I hope they let you off.'
'Bell won't.' He went and sat down. 'He's changed Watson. He's power mad, he wants Gregson's job and he is determined to get it.' Joan sat on his lap and wrapped her arm around his neck. 'Even if he has to put me away to do.'
'That won't happen. Thomas will work things out.'
'We hope.' He placed his head on her shoulder. She kissed him.
'It will be ok. Trust me.' They didn't hear Bell come in.
'Miss Watson?.' She jumped off Sherlock's lap. 'What are you doing here?.'
'I was...'
'Who let you in here?.'
'No one. I snuck in.'
'Well i'm gonna have to ask you to leave.' Sherlock grabbed hold of her hand.
'She stays.'
'I can't allow that.'
'We both know your going to give me the charges and i want her to know so i don't have to phone her from a jail cell.'
'Fine.' He sat down. 'We have deiced to charge you with preventing the course of justice. You will spend a minimum of 6 months in jail.' Bell left. They both sighed.
'I thought you would get more.'
'Me too.' They looked at each other and smiled. 'You'll visit me?.'
'Of course.' She lent down and kissed him. He turned it more passionate. She pulled away gently.
'What?.'
'Don't they have cameras in here?.'
'You camera shy?.' She smiled then kissed him again. 'I'll take that as a no.' Gregson came in. 'Captain.'
'Holmes, you have to come with us now.'
'One minute.' He got up and wrapped his arms around Joan's waist. 'I'll miss you.'
'Me too.' He hugged her. After a moment, he pulled away.
'I'll see you soon.' He kissed her forehead then he was led away. Joan couldn't even look, she was trying to hold back the tears.
'Joan, You want me to take you home?.'
She wiped her tears and turned to face Gregson.
'Yes, but not back to my parents. I want to go to my home.' Gregson knew what she meant.
