Let's figure out the Sonic Timeline! Part 2/3- Dreamcast Era

Before we get started. In the context of this article anything before Sonic 06 is in the Dreamcast Era.
Welcome to Part 2/3 of "Let's figure out the Sonic Timeline!" last time we figured out where all the classic games took place in the timeline and got this:

The reason I put Adventure after Sonic 4 Ep. II is because we know it takes place after 4 because of the design changes rule (See Part 1/3) and we know it takes place before Adventure 2. The rest is obvious due to Sonic Heroes and Shadow continuing it's story.

Because of it's story only in cooperating Adventure 1 characters I think Sonic Shuffle should go in-between the former and Adventure 2. Making the timeline...

Before we talk about the game this section is about let me get Sonic Pinball Party out of the way... It doesn't involve Sonic Characters and has no story thus it cannot be laced on the timeline.

Now for the game I wanted to talk about Sonic Battle! It takes place on the timeline right after Shadow the Hedgehog because of Shadow knowing all the details of his past (which he achieved in Shadow). Also Sonic Advance 3 takes place after Battle because it features a copy of Emerl (Made by Gerald Robotnick) the robot a robot character who stared in Battle and is destroyed at the end. More on Advanced 1 & 2 in a minute...

Sonic Advance 1 and 2 can go in anytime after Adventure that Shadow is not around because Amy is in these game but re-joined with the group in Adventure 1. So it could ether be after the latter or after Sonic Adventure 2 and before Heroes. I think it's probably the last possibility due to Heroes seeming to take place awhile after Adventure 2. But the previously mentioned possibility are still... well... possible... Also it makes more sense since they met Cream in Advanced 2 and she's in Heroes and she probably didn't disappear for a few games.

Next is Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure.. I'm willing to say that these games aren't canon because they feature the new character Blaze but we'll get in to why that's a contradiction next part. Trust me we have to do this to make a consistent timeline. Now last but not least for this part Sonic Riders. For these types of games I will not include any characters found in the multiplayer mode only the story. Here we have the classic team up of Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Knuckles... and three new characters that only return in future Sonic Riders games... oh um... well... I'm not really sure at all where this goes. Sonic Riders has a very self-contained story. This one could really take place anywhere. So our final timeline for this part is...

Uncle-Chairman How are Sonic Rush and Rush Adventure not canon? Without these two games, there is no explanation for how Blaze exists or why she appears in Sonic games. Games considered canon such as Sonic Generations refer to the Sonic Rush series in explaining Blaze and her appearances. Are you excluding them merely because you don't like Blaze? On a side note, Sonic Rush Adventure was released after Sonic 2006.

HoobaDoobaAlex I said my goal is to make a consistent timeline for the sonic the hedgehog video game universe. Blaze Eggman Nega, and Silver the Hedgehog all have multiple "canon" backstorys some say future some say alt. universe. The game where Sonic met Blaze says alt. universe, the game where Sonic canonically met Silver (Sonic Rivals) says future. Maybe? Silver and Blaze come from two separate places? That would work but Sonic Rush says Eggman Nega is from an alt. universe and Sonic Rivals says Eggman Nega is from the future. So any games with Silver, Blaze, and Eggman Nega can't be canon due to conflicting backstoys. I'll get to Sonic Generations next part. Oh and the Sonic Rush Adventure thing was an honest mistake.

Uncle-Chairman Takashi Lizuka himself clarified the status of these three characters (http://www.sonicstadium.org/2012/07/sonic-boom-live-blog/). Silver and Eggman Nega are from the future, as told in Sonic Rivals, and Blaze is from the Sol dimension, as told by Sonic Rush/Adventure. Furthermore, you can't use Eggman Nega's conflicting backstories to discredit Blaze's. The only game that ever featured an alternate backstory for Blaze and Silver was Sonic 2006, which erased itself from canon, clarifying the validity of Sonic Rush and Sonic Rivals in establishing Blaze's and Silver's backstories. Only Eggman Nega's remained truly uncertain, which was clarified here by Takashi Lizuka.

HoobaDoobaAlex I never said they didn't have confirmed backstorys I said they were conflicting. I have no problem with Blaze the Cat or the Sonic Rush Series. Sonic Rush can't be canon just because someone said Eggman Nega was from the future. That doesn't change what happened in the actual game. When looking at these things you have to look at the whole story just not the parts that work.

Sonic: What happened?
Tails: You fell from the sky and was unconscious! Are you alright?
Sonic: I'm fine but...Who are you?
Tails: I'm your best buddy, Tails.
Sonic: I haven't seen you before in my life.
-Tails felt kind of heartbroken, hearing that from his best friend and brother, but he knew Sonic lost his memory. He could probably regain it sooner or later.-
Knuckles: You seriously don't remember, do you?
Sonic: No...Should I?
-Knuckles and Tails looked at each other and then explained how they met and about Eggman and about Sonic is always stopping him.-

Where people go wrong making fan characters

We've all tried to make an OC (Or I assume we have) Anywho, there are many people who just can't do it. First thing to do is NOT the appearance. I know, it's tempting as all get-out, but trust me. It's better to get the character's personality and such down first.
First, you should have a general idea of a character's past. If you get an idea like 'flying lizard monkey' (Not advised) Then jot it down. I hate when you have a great idea, and end up losing it while thinking too hard on how the character should say stuff or whatnot. If you jot down one sentence about them, then you can refer to...
