This film is really neat, as well as very awesome, too. The four main actors (Wil Wheaton, Jerry O’Connell, Corey Feldman and River Phoenix) did an awesome job in bringing their characters to life the way they did.
Also, Kiefer Sutherland, who also did a phenomenal job with the role of Ace Merrill, had this to say about his character in this really neat behind the scenes documentary titled “Walking the Tracks: The Summer of Stand By Me” (which is found on the Special Edition DVD of the movie):
Stand By Me turns 30 on August 22, 2016. THIRTY. Oh look, an excuse to watch the movie 30 more times and put together a list of favorite quotes!
I've provided a light commentary, in italics, because I just couldn't help myself. (Don't worry, it's easy to ignore, if you're just here for the quotes.) Feel free to comment, I'd love to know about your favorites too!
You are at the friday night football game. Your cheerleading uniform on. You are yelling the cheers at the crowd with your best friends. You look up and see your brother Gordie and his best friends Vern,Teddy and *sigh* Chris. The love of your life. You turn to your friends to let them pick you up since you get to be the girl thrown in the air and caught. Four cheerleaders pick you up and the four others pick up y/b/f (your best friend) You looked at eachother and cheered "WE'VE GOT THE SPIRIT! S-P-I-R-I-T!!" Then your thrown and you land in the girls arms. After the game Chris comes up to...
You and Chris hated eachother.
Well that's what you thought until one day he came to your rescue.
Like a superhero.
You are in the bathroom and the mean girls are beating you to a bloody pulp.
You scream as loudly as possible.
You hear footsteps and shouts.
Then you are being scooped into someone's strong, warm, loving arms.
"C..chris I thought you hate me."
"No. Not at all. Shhh." He cooes into your ear and then kisses you passionatly.
You ran to the treehouse. Your head was throbbing and blood was running down your face. You climbed the ladder and you sat on the wood. You stood up and grabbed a leaf off the ground and started wiping your head. "Hey what happened?" You hear a voice and you turn. Your heart doing leaps. It was Chris. "Oh um my dad." His face turned into a frown. "Come here." He says and he spreads his arms widely. You collapse in his arms. "Are you hurting to much??" He asks and then you say "Not really. But I'll feel alot better if you hold me tighter." He grins and then he picks you up and you wrap your...
it was a hot day in Castle Rock and I was walking around town with my four bestfriends, Gordie, Teddy, Vern, and Chris. so yeah, I have a huge crush on Chris. I have for a while but he's my bestfriend and if I told him I liked him, I think he would laugh and say I'm crazy. I was walking in between gordie and Chris who were sweating like dogs. "gah, you guys smell bad." I said. "we can't help it, hey let's go to the lake." Teddy said quickly. we all agreed and split up to go home and get out swim suits. when the boys say 'swim suits' they mean a pair of boxers, but whatever. they're boys. I...
According to Jerry O'Connell, who played the timid Vern Tessio, director Rob Reiner was the driving force behind the boys' performances and fellowship.
"If it wasn't for Rob, the acting wouldn't have been half as good", Jerry states.
"He really wanted us to understand our characters".
Before the actual filming began, Mr. Reiner brought the boys together in an effort to develop a genuine closeness and friendship between them.
I am totally and completely in love with Teddy! I haven't stopped thinking about him for the last 24 hours. But he is sooooo old now. Anyone else feel the pain!????? TEDDDYYYYYYYY!! He is so cool, immature (yay!), hilarious, and super hot.
Should I check into Teddy-lovers annonymous? Seriously, I am having a heart break. I love him sooooo damn much!!! Teddy!!! I like River too but Teddy is sooooooo my favorite. Why can't he have a duplicate. That is 13???? I love you Teddy, and if I had one wish it would be for you to be 12 and standing in front of me.
The movie Stand by me, based on the book "The Body" written by Stephen King, released for the first time in theaters on 1986 will be completing 25 years on 2011.And as a homage to a film so good and so successful like Stand by me, nothing better than to release the film in theaters once again.
Therefore we call on the Columbia Pictures to release Stand by me in theaters again. It would be a celebration of the height of this film...
