Nakoma was badly injured in a battle and was taken to Coruscant Hospital for immediate treatment. She was unconscious, but breathing. While unconscious, she went to another world. Another world like...the heavens. She looked around for a minute or two. "Nakoma." called a little voice. Nakoma turned to see who called her name. And she couldn't believe who it was. It was her little brother, Rafe!
Nakoma ran to Rafe and hugged him like there was no tomorrow. Rafe did the same. "Open your mouth." he said. Nakoma got confused. "Open your mouth, you'll see!" Rafe pleaded excitedly. Nakoma did what she was told. She was glad she did. As she opened her mouth, a sound came out! "I can talk!" she exclaimed.
There were no words to describe how happy Nakoma felt at that moment. "I'm so glad my disability is gone!" she shouted. "Miracles are great, aren't they?" Rafe said. "They are!" Nakoma replied as she went to hug Rafe again. The two soon got down to seriousness. "Why am I here, though?" Nakoma asked. "You're here because you need answers." Rafe answered.
"What kind of answers?" Nakoma asked. "You need to know there was nothing you could've done." Rafe answered talking about the time he died at birth. Nakoma had tears in her eyes that were the perfect shade of turquoise. "Rafe, you don't know how devastated we were!" Nakoma choked. Rafe looked down at the ground. "I know that none of you deserved to lose me, but things happen. No matter how devastating they are." he said. "But I miss you so much! So do mother and father!" Nakoma tearfully replied.
"They miss me, but they know my spirit lives on, just like you do." Rafe pointed out. Nakoma cried as she embraced her little brother. "You would've been the best older sister, Nakoma." he said with a big smile as he grabbed Nakoma's hand. Nakoma cried a stray tear that had remained in her eye. She suddenly thought about her real state. "Rafe?" she asked. "Yes?" Rafe asked back. "I was recently hurt very badly in a battle." Nakoma answered.
"That's easy. You can go or stay." Rafe explained. Nakoma's eyes got big. "I have a choice?" she asked. "Yes." Rafe answered. Nakoma thought for a second. "Rafe, I'd love to stay with you, but I can't leave my master." she said talking about Anakin. Rafe just held her hand in an understanding way.
"If you want to go, I'll always watch over you, in battle or not." he stated. Nakoma smiled a tearful smile. "You want to know a secret?" she asked. "What's that?" Rafe asked. "I dedicate all my work to you." Nakoma spilled. Rafe took her other hand. "Keep on doing what you love! And never let others talk you down!" Rafe encouraged. He and Nakoma shared one last hug.
"Before I go, will I be able to keep my gift?" Nakoma asked. "If you don't get to keep your gift, just remember-you'll always be special to everyone you love." Rafe answered one last time. Nakoma smiled as she went back to the world. As she regained consciousness, she felt so loved by just talking to Rafe. Not only that, she also realized she got the long-awaited closure she need for a long time. She tried to make a sound, but nothing came out. Because she saw Rafe, that didn't matter. She felt like a whole now.
"NAKOMA!" Anakin screamed as he ran to her side. Nakoma smiled. "I'm so glad you're back!" Anakin sobbed in relief. Nakoma rubbed his back with the same smile on her face. She'd miss Rafe, but she was thankful to be back. Every battle Nakoma fought in, everything she did, and everywhere she went, she knew Rafe would always be there. No matter what happened.
