Hello, everyone! RocknRollSoul60 here, and I am writing about my top ten Beatles songs and why I love them. Anyway, I guess I'll get started.
1. "Good Day Sunshine"
This song is my favourite, because it's just beautiful. I love the lyrics. "I'm in love, and it's a sunny day." This song always cheers me up when I'm sad. Peaceandlove67 actually sang this song to me one day when I was sad, and I felt better.
2. "Do You Want to Know a Secret?"
I've always been attracted to good love songs. It makes me think of maybe someday finding a special someone. When I do, I would sing that song to her. Hopefully, she will like my singing voice.
3. "I Am the Walrus"
I really like this song. It just makes me laugh. I laughed the first time I heard it. "Boy, you've been a naughty girl, you let your knickers down." That lyric makes me laugh every time. By the time the song ends, I'm still laughing. Once, I was actually crying, because I was laughing so hard. My mother actually asked if I was all right. I said, "The Beatles killed me with laughter. I couldn't be any better than that."
4. "Yesterday"
This song has lyrics that anyone can relate to. "Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away." We all feel that way from time to time. It's a universal feeling. If I listen to it, and there are a lot of people around, I hold back the tears, because apparently boys aren't supposed to cry. If I'm around close friends, I let it out.
5. "Dig It"
This song is hilarious! I love how John just threw some names in there. It almost seems like he was playing a word association game or something. It's just brilliant.
6. "What Goes On"
I had to include at least one of Ringo's songs. I would be crazy to say that I didn't appreciate Ringo's first songwriting credit. When I first heard it, I quickly picked up on the lyrics, and I had it stuck in my head for six months. That's right, SIX MONTHS. I'm not even joking. I think that's the longest I've ever had a song stuck in my head.
7. "The Long and Winding Road"
This song is very emotional. The song makes me think of Paul's struggle of keeping the Beatles together, but the more he tried to keep them together, the more they fell apart. "Many times I've been alone, and many times, I've cried. Anyway, you'll never know the many ways I tried." When I heard that lyric, I burst into tears. That was the hardest I cried over a song. My mother ran into my bedroom. She said, "Are you all right? What happened? What's wrong, love?" I said, "This song....it's just so sad! It's the saddest song I've ever heard!"
8. "It's Only Love"
I've always loved this song. "It's only love, and that is all." It's such a simple song. My father doesn't seem to know why I love this song. I said, "How can you hate this?!" He said, "I don't hate it. I just don't love it as much as the others." My father prefers the later Beatles songs. I mostly like the earlier songs, but I love the later songs, too.
9. "Day Tripper"
I mainly listen to the song for the sound. I love that riff. It was one of the first songs I learned to play on guitar. I struggled with it at first, but it sounded all right after I had a lot of practice.
10. "The Word"
I love "The Word." I love the lyrics in the song. I love the sound of the song. It makes me want to get up and start dancing, which is what I always do. I'm a lousy dancer, but I still have fun with it. It's a really good song.
That concludes my top ten favourite Beatles songs. Do you agree with my list? What is your favourite Beatles songs? If you don't agree with me, please be respectful. I get needled enough in my life. People like that need help! I need to spread the word, because all you need is love.
