Our good friend Pete Phillips grandfather was the first person ever to record The Quarrymen who of course became The Beatles, this is an intriguing story about those early recordings.
In 1977, legendary Liverpool DJ Bob Wooler and Alan Williams (the man who took the Beatles to Hamburg in 1960) were involved in organising the first Liverpool Beatles Convention. It took place in October of 1977 (on the weekend of John Lennon’s birthday) at Mr Pickwick’s nightclub in Salter Street, which has since been demolished and is now the site of Liverpool Bus Station.
