Chapter 34
Annabeth's POV

After Steph (She asked us to call her by her nickname) told us about her situation, I can't help but compare her problem with the one with Percy and Jason. Is this a coincidence or what? Is she another pawn of Hera or just some random people we came across to? For Hades' sake, we don't even know if she's a demigod or a mortal. Maybe she's like Rachel, who can see through the mist. Percy was throwing me a skeptical look and I can guess that he's having the same thought as mine.

"Um, Steph, this is gonna sound weird, but don't freak out," Piper said. Then she procedeed to explain about gods, demigods, the two camps, the mist and monsters. We figured that its better if she's the one that's gonna explain because of her charmspeaking.

After Piper finished explaining, Steph didn't look weird or confused or shocked. She had this calm look on her face, like the one Jason wore when we explained about the Greeks back at Camp Half-Blood.

"I know this is gonna be weird," She said. "But I think I heard that from somewhere. It's a distant memory, like someone blocked it with...I don't know, something.."

I noticed she had a knife tucked on her waist, “Can I see you knife?”

“Um, yeah,” She said and handed me her knife.

“Hmmm, it Imperial Gold,” I muttered. “Maybe you’re a Roman demigod.”

"Yeah I guess we should go up so you can meet the others and discuss what happened yesterday," I said.

I helped Percy up. Steph had already taken a few steps when her knees gave away. Luckily, Percy was there to catch her. But again, as soon as he caught her, there eyes started to glow. Apparently, Percy noticed and let go of her in a flash.

Then, there was a really awkward silence. Well, until Jason broke it, saying, "Guys, let's go."

We went to the dock with Percy and Steph cautiously avoiding each other. When they made contact a while ago, there was this aura of power that seemed, well... dangerous . Or maybe it's just my imagination.

"Leo! Hazel! Frank!" Jason called them. "This is Steph.”

They exchanged Hi's and Hello's. We sat on the table, where we brought Steph up to date with the quest, the prophecy and the current standing of both camps.

"So are you saying I might be part of the quest?" Steph said. "That's impossible."

"I know," Percy said. "But the seven are here, you're here. I think you're gonna play an important part in the prophecy."

So the meeting was adjourned. Jason went off to drive the boat, which was flying until we get off the continent. Leo was hitting on Steph as usual, Hazel and Frank talking in hushed tones while looking at Leo, and Piper was looking out onto the rail.

Percy too, was looking out with me next to him. I touched his hand. He looked up to me. It still felt weird, as his eyes now had gold in his eyes. But he was still as handsome as ever.
"You okay?" I said, studying his face.

"Yes, I guess.. It's just," He started to say. “going on a quest, this quest that can probably change the world, save it or destroy it, and it lies on our hands. There so many things I can’t understand.”

“Is this about Steph?” I said, surprised at my tone, which sounded a little jealous. I can’t help it, it’s like they have a connection about… something.. I hate it when I don’t know the answer. Ughh.

“She has a part in it,” He said. “I mean we already know who the seven are, and if Hera sent her, why would she do that?”

“I know.. I’ve been thinking about that too,” I said.

He smirked, his familiar smile lighting up his face, “You’re always thinking. That’s why you’re my Wise Girl.”

I rolled his eyes at him and gently punched his arm, “Yeah, right.”

Suddenly, there was a familiar voice that called , “Percy! Annabeth!”

We turned to see an Iris message, and a red-head talking to us. It was Rachel, and the hunters beside her with Chiron. Their faces were etched with worry and annoyance, probably annoyed with the prospect of talking to a male, who has the initials P-E-R-C-Y.

“Yo, Rachel, what happened??” Percy said.

“There’s been a problem,” Rachel said, her eyes with worry.

“What?” I said, now sounding a little nervous. Noticing that someone was missing, I added “And where’s Thalia?”

“ That’s the problem,” Rachel said. “She’s been kidnapped by Gaea.”

“WHAT???!!!” Jason exclaimed. Apparently he heard the conversation and rushed over. “What do you mean, my sister got kidnapped? What happened?”

One of the hunters, Phoebe, told us what happened. How they were tracing a scent that Artemis had ordered them to trace, how they encountered Lycan, the wolf. He worked for Gaea and his wolves attacked the hunters. When the battle was over, the earth suddenly opened and it swallowed Thalia.

Then, after she finished, Rachel doubled up, like she’d been punched. Green spew came out of her mouth as she repeated the prophecy she once told me:

Wisdom’s daughter walks alone,
The Mark of Athena burns through Rome
Son of the seas, a choice shall be made
Cursed knife shall take a life to death


The rainbow shimmered and the message was gone.
