The Heroes of Olympus Destiny Rising series: A Titan's Rage and The Frozen Desert

Jupiter305 posted on Dec 03, 2011 at 08:07PM
Hello, they call me Jupiter305 because...well...its my screen name. I have a story about children of the titans. Who may appear to be evil in the opinion of humanity but in reality they were the good guys.

Backstory: Humanity lived well under the Titans. No war or disease. Until Zeus came and took over. Slowly under his control the world has become corrupted and more dangerous. Zeus took credit for the adventures of other demi-titans to bring more support under his name.
The Titans have been bidding time until five heroes can change the tide...

A Titans’ Rage
Since the Titans lost millennia ago, the world has been at peace. So the gods say. Little does mankind know, life under the Titans was paradise. Zeus, mad that his brother Hades would inherit the throne of Kronos, overthrew his father and became king. Since then mankind has slowly dissolved into something more…aggressive. Heroes have risen to take on the gods, but failed. A prophecy has been given Zeus will be defeated by his mortal brother...
Jesse, Vanessa, and Tyler must now embark on a quest to bring the Titans back to power and escape the endless grasp of the gods. First they must overcome the hidden clues of their pasts and figure out the divine powers given to them.

Jesse Pierce: The loner who finds himself in the struggle between two ancient forces. Jesse finds out early he can’t run from destiny as he is the key to the fall of the gods.

Vanessa Sullivan: The beauty queen who learns that she can’t outrun her family. She proves to be the brawn in this new battle.

Tyler Garcia: The jock with the perfect life. Girlfriend, humor, and good grades. Perfect, huh? But every full moon Tyler can’t help himself. It’s a curse that proves deadly…

Here goes your reward for being amazing readers!
Two chapters as I promised but watch out for three things in the next couple of chapters:
1. A temperary change in Jesse's behavior.
2. Vanessa being forced to make a deadly choice for her team.
3. Tyler coming to clash with a couple of Titans.

Vanessa
“We need to get to the palace of Oceanus, like yesterday,” Tyler said.
He was finally out of his suit. He wore a regular dark blue shirt and gray shorts. His hair was a mess and finally not spiked. Vanessa actually liked it.
“How do you propose we get there?” Jesse asked. He was still a bit pale. It looked like that soul show took a bit out of him. “I love peaches.”
Everyone looked at him weird. Jesse blushed. “Sorry, I’m out of it.”
“I bet you are,” Vanessa said. “How would we find out where Oceanus lives? Plus, if he lives under the ocean, how do we get there?”
Tyler waved his hand. “Details, details.”
They were at the library near Tyler’s house. It was quiet and secretive. Especially since they all went out of their way not to be followed.
“We could use some leadership,” Vanessa said sadly. “Wish Themis was here.”
Vanessa wished she hadn’t said that. She might’ve offended Jesse.
But on the contrary, Jesse’s face lit up.
“That’s it!” Jesse ran away.
“Should we follow him?” Tyler asked.
“Let’s see where this goes, first.”
Jesse ran back then fell on the floor. “Ow! Jesse to peach central! Man down!” He stood back up and placed a book on the table. It was a world atlas. Not Vanessa’s dad Atlas, but…whatever.
“Tyler,” Jesse said. “Close your eyes and point to a spot on this book.”
“Why…”
“Peach central says: Do it!”
Tyler lost his wildcard position to Jesse but listened. He closed his eyes.
“But first. Remember your mommy. Think ocean, whales, and sand up your pants.”
Tyler frowned. “Gosh dude, you’re really out of it.” He pointed his index finger to a specific place on the map.
Vanessa gasped. “Off the coast of Florida…”
Tyler opened his eyes. “The Bermuda Triangle?”
“Themis once told me that demititans have a deep connection to their parents by invoking the power of their domain. Tyler goes ocean and…bam! A hidden connection to his mom opens up. We may not notice it but…” Jesse dropped his voice. “It exists.”
Tyler and Vanessa looked at Jesse with disbelief. Vanessa thought Jesse was acting weird like his soul was in the wrong place. He was, in Vanessa’s opinion, too loopy.
“To the Bermuda Triangle we go!”

They went to a taxi service so they could go to Aqualane Shore on the Western Coast of Florida. It was a couple of hours long but when they arrived there, Tyler gave the driver most of his allowance.
“Stupid taxi fare,” he complained.
Jesse pointed to a distance at the sandy beach. “Who wants to go on a boat trip?”

Tyler
Go on a super crazy cruise to the Bermuda Triangle? Sure. Meet the step-father who hates Tyler’s guts? Why not? But do all that on a small boat? No fudging way.
Jesse made Tyler waste the rest of his allowance on a boat the size of a truck. Sailing to the palace of the ancient ocean Titan in this? Hurts his pride.
They sailed off to the Bermuda Triangle in this small boat with a not so big mast and little moment.
Then, Vanessa found a way to boost Tyler’s pride a bit. She told him to use his power over water to push them along. It was true, too. Tyler knew from what angle to go and how to push the boat even faster. He figured they’d be at the triangle by dawn the next day thanks to his surprisingly good bearings at sea. It was about almost nightfall, from what Tyler thought.
Vanessa sat close to Tyler after Jesse was giving them a lecture on peaches and went to sleep.
“You should sleep,” she advised. “It’s been a long day.”
Tyler shrugged. “Doesn’t matter. The ocean is giving me more power than I imagined.”
“You make a great lawyer.”
“I know. It’s my southwest angle. It captivates everyone.”
Vanessa smiled then yawned. “I guess.”
“Sleep,” Tyler urged. “I’ll be fine.”
But right after Vanessa listened, Tyler slept too. It would’ve been fine if not for the giant sea monster that woke them up.

“Oh, a giant sea monster!” Jesse yelled. “Maybe it’s friendly!”
Tyler took a while to process that sentence but when he realized what Jesse said, he leaped to his feet.
Jesse was laughing playfully at the sea monster and Tyler gulped. It was more of a Sea Hydra. It had eight heads with the shapes of leathery black snakes. Underwater, Tyler just saw a black mass that he assumed was the body.
Vanessa pulled Jesse from the hydra. “Where are we Tyler?”
Tyler thought about it and frowned. “In the middle of the Bermuda Triangle.”

Tyler
Tyler was really frustrated. While Jesse was yelling that peach central was telling them to drown themselves, the sea hydra was getting ferocious. Tyler knew he had to beat this monster. Ka-plow! Sploom! That’s how it’s down in the ocean.
“Vanessa, keep Jesse safe. Let the prince of the oceans handle this.”
“Um, Tyler…”
“It’s okay!” Tyler flexed his muscles. “I am the son of Tethys, queen of the oceans! My name strikes fear into monsters like you! Fear my unnaturally good looks! Prepare for your destruction…ha-yeah!”
Tyler ran at the monster channeling his energy. He called to the ocean around him to give him strength and power. He was ready to prove his lineage, to prove how great his potential was. Tyler knew slaying this monster was to the start of his true destiny.
“Tyler, stop!” Vanessa cried.
“I can’t!” Tyler yelled. He leapt off the boat into the water. But one problem, it was frozen into solid ice.
Tyler fell onto the slab of ice and landed hard. He groaned as icy mist covered his face.
“Where did you come from?” He yelled.
The hydra got it bad, too. The water froze around its heads and up its leathery necks. All it could do was roar in outrage.
“Did I do this?” Tyler asked. “I am awesome! I have ice powers!” Tyler took a dramatic pose. “Call me Iceman or…The Awesome Snowman. Fear my powers or you will get hypothermia! Ka-boom!”
“Tyler…” Vanessa said with a faint trace of fear. “It wasn’t you; it was…well, her.”
Tyler turned to see a woman walking toward them on the ice surface. She had long black hair with a crown of pure gold. Her skin was bluish but still pale and her sea green eyes stood out. The woman wore an elegant white dress covered on the top with golden armor.
Tyler felt drawn to this woman like she was a part of him. She was the source of his power like his connection to the ocean.
“Mom?” Tyler called.
The woman smiled but even the smile seemed faint like Tyler’s appearance didn’t come at a great time.
“Behold!” Jesse yelled. “The mother of all peaches!”
Tyler frowned. Jesse thinks he’s a peach? He shook his head.
“Sorry about my friend,” Tyler apologized. “You are my mother, right?”
The woman nodded. “I am Tethys. Hello my son.”
Tyler nodded and bowed in respect to his queen. “Permission to hug?”
The woman smiled. “Of course, my child.”
“Mommy!” Tyler yelled as he ran to her. When he hugged her, she felt warm but rich with power. Her scent was of the deep ocean, but it all came together perfectly.
“You have fourteen birthdays to make up for,” Tyler said when he backed off.
Tethys touched his cheek softly and studied him. “Well built, handsome, an amazing tan…you are a child of seas.” Tethys turned to the hydra. “Sorry for my pet, she is our security system to alert us of intruders. Her name is Hannah.”
Tyler laughed nervously. “Hannah the Hydra?”
“This is my child, Tyler,” Tethys said to the hydra. “Hannah, do not harm him.”
The hydra growled with shame. Tethys turned to his friends.
“I have heard a lot about the son of Kronos and daughter of Atlas. But I have not heard why you have come. Oceanus is not happy about your…”
“Existence?” Tyler offered.
“Yes, I have broken many rules when I sired you.”
Tyler tried to act tough. “It’s okay. I break rules all the time. I don’t even wash my hands after I use the bathroom.”
Tethys didn’t appreciate that piece of information. “You are my child, though. I will help with whatever you need.”
“We need to see Iapetus about how to raise Kronos. And, can you look at Jesse? I think the gods have permanently fixed him on peaches.”
Tethys looked stunned. “You wish to raise Kronos?”
“Yeah! I mean, you Titans would get a major power boost to defeat the Olympians!”
“You want to help us fight Olympus?”
“Yes,” Tyler said calmly. “Being her with you and my friends...I know now that I belong. To help my family bring peace.”
Tethys smiled. “Tyler, you’re destiny is great and perilous but you will rise above all heroes. I am proud to help you. Bring your friends, Iapetus will leave shortly. Let’s go catch him.”
“Thanks, mom!”
“But be warned, Tyler. Do not anger Oceanus.”
Tyler scoffed. “I’m peaceful.”
Of course what happened with Oceanus was nothing Tyler expected.

Jesse
Jesse to peach central! Going down under!
Jesse couldn’t explain how he felt. It was like his mind was going a million miles an hour and that the answer to everything lied in one place: Peaches. Jesse felt hyper and lost his sense of reason.
Tyler’s mom Tethys, goddess of the oceans was taking them to the palace. They were in a giant ice bubble big enough for all them to walk around in. They continued to descend into the ocean, ignoring all cold temperatures and high pressures. A faint light glowed in the distance. The palace of Oceanus.
It was tall with many towers and a main one. It was also golden with a faint light blue glow. Various creatures swam around freely, mostly mermaids and sea animals.
“Peach central says: Let’s do this.”
Tethys glanced at Jesse with caution. “Don’t talk much in front of my husband, Jesse. I am pretty sure Iapetus can…fix you.”
Jesse knew he felt different but he didn’t know how to stop it.
They landed in front of the palace. Where the mermen guards bowed to the queen and parted before her.
“You are lucky to come when Iapetus is visiting because we took out all the water and is breathable inside the palace.”
The ice bubble landed inside the palace and melted into regular water then evaporated.
Jesse rolled out and scoped the hallway that led to the throne room.
“Praying mantis!” Jesse yelled and posed. “Striking cobra! Flying phoenix!”
“Um…what are you doing there buddy?” Tyler asked politely.
Jesse frowned. “Peach central says: Prepare for death!”
Tethys continued forward. “That’s Iapetus. As I said…don’t speak much Jesse.”
They all followed Tethys and Tyler whispered to Jesse, “Peach central says to not speak unless spoken to in the throne room.”
Jesse frowned. “Why didn’t peach central tell me that?”
“Because you’re overacting,” Tyler grumbled. “Seriously, peach central says I’m in control now.”
Jesse thought about it. Was he a bad hero in the eyes of peach central?
“Oh, behold the prince of peaches!” Jesse yelled.
“Yeah…um….you can shut up now.”
When they reached the bronze double doors Tethys looked uneasy but opened them.
The throne room was grander than anything Jesse could have of imagined. It was big like the living room in a grand mansion. The color was blue mixed with gold. Three thrones were in the room. Two were blue with moving water designs and were taller than ten feet. One was made out of intertwining bones and rocks, which was what Jesse had to assume was coral. But it was the people that Jesse didn’t need peach central to him they were bad news.
One was a guy similar to Tethys. He had the bluish skin with a muscular figure dragon tattoos around his body. He wore armor on the bottom half of his body but nothing on the top. He had sea green eyes and spiked sandy blond hair. That guy had to be Oceanus. He seemed young like he wasn’t a day over twenty-five. The thing that bothered Jesse was his look. It was intimidating but he was smiling like he enjoyed life in general. How could he dislike Tyler?
The other gut had to Iapetus. He a slim man but he seemed to have an aura of dark power. He wore black skinny jeans and a gray shirt with red writing that says: Death Rulz! His hair was gray but not from age, which by the way was the same as Oceanus’s look. It flowed onto his face like my hair does but it was formed into a stylish bang. There goes the Titan of death hanging with style.
They both looked at everyone else as they came in.
“My king, the children,” Tethys announced.
“Which ones?” Oceanus said. His voice was…playful, almost. “The extremists in New Orleans? They’ve been giving the Olympians trouble.”
“You got that right, bro.” Iapetus had a deep voice for a regular guy. “That tornado in Kansas last year. Mad crazy!”
They both sounded like pretty fun Titans. Almost like they were a couple of guys having fun at college.
Tethys hesitated. “No, the chosen three. Jesse, Vanessa, and Tyler.”
Oceanus frowned. “Your son, Tyler. In my throne room…should I kill him right now? Hmm…”
“No,” Tyler said. He bowed before Oceanus. “I will serve you, my king. Do you have any royal garbage that needs to be taken out? Or I could water any plants you have. Wait, we’re underwater so scratch that.”
Oceanus laughed at Tyler. “You’re a suck up!”
“Tone it down, bro,” Iapetus advised. “What do you guys want?”
Vanessa to spoke up. “To bring back Kronos!”
Iapetus tried to contain his laughter. “Really, you’d need a kid of Kronos for that.”
Tethys pointed to Jesse. “Here he is.”
Iapetus and Oceanus turned serious and focused their attention onto Jesse.
“A son of Kronos?” Iapetus repeated no longer laughing.
Jesse nodded. Jesse knew peach central said no talking unless spoken to.
“Are you sea sick? Speak up, boy!”
“I am Jesse, son of Kronos and legacy to peaches.”
Oceanus frowned. “Come again?”
“My mission in life is to become peach master!”
Oceanus and Iapetus looked at each other confused.
Vanessa spoke for Jesse’s behalf which made him grateful. “Sorry, but…” She explained how the conflict with Hermes and Nemesis caused Jesse’s condition.
Iapetus slid of his guest throne and walked toward Jesse. His presence was bothering Jesse. It was like his life energy was being sapped out and now he just felt more tired.
“Sorry, kid. Since I’m a Titan of mortal life and death, I tend to unintentionally sap other people’s energy.”
He examined Jesse carefully. “I have the solution.” Iapetus punched Jesse in his face with so much force, his face burned.
“Ow!”
Vanessa stepped in front of Jesse, fists up. “You’re asking for it!”
Iapetus held his hands up. “Calm down. His soul was in his head, messing up his thinking process. I just fixed it.”
Vanessa turned around. “Are you okay?”
Jesse smiled at Vanessa. “Yeah, plus I hate peaches.”
Jesse felt back to normal with no peach fixations. But somehow he felt different….
“Before we get the answer on how to revive Kronos,” Tyler started. “Who gave me the curse of the full moon?”
Tethys looked away but Oceanus’s expression turned to anger.
“You should have left that subject alone.”
