I made some adjustments to my original map of Panem based on comments and other maps :] my old map>>> http://www.fanpop.com/spots/the-hunger-games-trilogy/links/12813513
capitol: it is supposed to be in the rockies, so yea
district 1: they are near the capitol, like the book says. They're never hungry and I figured they'd be in a warm place to so this seemed like a good spot.
district 2: I guessed that they don't grow or make their own resources because they just make medicine, so i put them in the plains, near the capitol also
district 3: I was originally going to put this on in the north east, near new york or new jersey, but they couldn't be farther east that district 12; so i decided to put it near Indiana/Michigan where there are currently a lot of factories
district 4: fishing, so they're obviously near the ocean to fish
district 5: livestock in the lower great plains, cause that's a good place to raise livestock :]
district 6: They do scientific research for the capitol, so i put the near the capitol in the area of current day Texas
district 7: lumber; there's lots of trees up there
district 8: weaving/cloth making they grow cloth making materials there
district 9: I figured that this seemed like a logical place for hunters to live.
district 10: Mathematics Research, they could basically go anywhere, but i also read they were near the Mississippi, not sure if this is true though
district 11: agriculture, I put them in the great plains, where a lot of crops grow :]
district 12: Coal mining, they are in 'appalacia' so they're by the Appalachian mountains, and there's a lot of coal mining that happens there... yup
district 13: this one was tricky, it could have gone in a lot of spots, but i figured out it needed to be the furthest east of all of them. There are also a lot of nuclear power plants currently in this area so i figured it made sense to be here.
The light blue around the edges is erosion from natural disasters that has shaped North America. I made sure to put space between the districts as they were in the books. I'm not sure if this was said in the books or not, but i was also under the impression that the capitol was the furthest west of them all and in the Rockie which is why my districts are arranged as they are.
How did you know that District 9 was Hunting? Because i've been trying to figure it out for a very long time :P Also District 11 should be alot bigger because it is described as being a very large district. but everywhere else is great. i love how you included Canada :D
The list of what each district's industry is wrong. It goes:
District 1: Luxury
District 2: Masonry
District 3: Technology
District 4: Fishing
District 5: Power
District 6: Transportation
District 7: Lumber
District 8: Textiles
District 9: Grain
District 10: Livestock
District 11: Agriculture
District 12: Mining
District 13: Nuclear Power
Thnx for the correct districts, teamPeeta .. im glad at least someone has enough sense to READ THE BOOKS!! hear that, maggie? FANSITES ARE MADE BY FANS!!!! HENCE THE NAME "FANSITE"! U CAN'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING ON THE INTERNET! cake for u, TeamPeeta.
wow, that was extremely uncalled for^^ I made this map before the books were even all out and before the districts jobs were known. Because of this I am aware that some of the district jobs were off... i was just doing my best with the information that was known at the time! But other than that thanks for the feedback!! Also, for those getting angry that the districts are not all connected and covering ALL of North America, its is heavily implied in the books that the landscape is greatly changed after over 1,000 years and there is also space between the districts... so yeah!
