Ugh. Trudging through the snow and cold home from a long day at work at the DX was not exactly what you had in mind for a Tuesday night, but whatever.

But then you stopped. The streetlights shone on the snow just right, making it glow and sparkle. It was pretty. The sky was so black, filled with stars. It was a good night.

And all of a sudden you found yourself on the ground.

As soon as he hears your voice, he turns around, and stomps off in the other direction.

“What the hell?” You call after him, running to catch up. He was a lot bigger than you, his strides were longer, but you caught up to him.

“Hey.” You try again. No answer. He just stares ahead of him.

You step in front of him. “What the fuck is going on?” You ask, eyebrows raised.

"Hey Soda! You got mail!" Darry called from the kitchen. You put down the comb and sat at the table as the letter is tossed in front of you. Slicing open the envelope you begin to read, "Sodapop Patrick Curtis. We would like to announce that you have been drafted into the United States of America Army and will be a part in fighting the Vietnam War. Your departure date will be the 23 of May and will be a 4 year term. This is an extraordinary honor and we wish you the best.
