The girls decided to do their explanation instead of a toast even though Hallie was able to taste wine since she had been living on a vineyard with Nick. Annie, on the other hand, was clueless about wine since she had yet to experience that herself. “We know that everyone has been wondering how we ended up here tonight in celebrating the renowned love that our parents have for each other since everyone had been under the impression that they were divorced and we had no idea about each other. That’s why Annie and I are standing here right now. The story starts at a nice camp in Maine called Camp Walden For Girls. Our father, Nick Parker, sent me there for the summer because he thought I needed to experience something different. At the same time, our mother, Elizabeth James, sent Annie there for the same reason that our father was sending me. Annie and I spent a while oblivious that the other was there up until a fencing game. I was rolling along and beating everyone that came my way until Annie decided to join the fun. Let’s just say that we did not like each other at first and played tricks on each other. One of the times, our trick backfired and we ended up in trouble which was actually a good thing because we ended up finding out that we had a lot in common,” Hallie started.
“It was a rainy day and the wind was bad. We had the windows down and getting some air until the wind basically ruined all the pictures that Hallie had placed on her side of the room. Since the windows were stuck and wouldn’t go up, I decided to help her. Once we shut them, Hallie noticed that all of her pictures had blown all over the place. Luckily, all of her pictures were fine except one but that was fine. We started actually talking and she asked me questions about London and I answered. Then, I asked her questions about California which she answered. It was then we realized that we had the same guilty pleasure: Oreos dipped in peanut butter. As we sat on her trunk, she asked me when my birthday was. I answered that it was October 11th and then she told me that her birthday was October 11th as well. That was a shock to me until she asked about my father who I had no idea was actually her father as well. I said that I never met him and that I guessed our parents had divorced years ago since my mother who was also our mother never mentioned him at all. I made the comment that it was like he evaporated into thin air. Hallie explained that our father was a workaholic who said he would talk to her later but never did which she said she hated. As we were talking and getting to know each other, Hallie noticed that it had stopped raining. She then suggested that we go out and get a Popsicle which I noticed was strange at a time like that,” Annie continued.
