For some of y'all who don't know, here:

FireClan: A Clan I made up
Medicine Cat: cat that heals and helps other cats in the Clan that are hurt or injured
Queen: A she-cat expecting or nursing kits
StarClan: all the passed away cats of Clans
Herbs: healing plant seeds
Burdock root: Roots good for rat bats, especially if they get infected
Fresh-kill: Food; mice, rabbit, bird; stuff wild cats eat
(and BTW, Blake is the leader of the Clan)


Echo was FireClan's new Medicine Cat. Ever since the old Medicine Cat, Romy, became a Queen, she had a dream from StarClan telling her that it was her own destiny to be Medicine Cat of FireClan.

"Echo! Echo!" He friends Ramona and Butterscotch called. "Where have you been?" "Oh, you know, off to get some herbs, looking for some marigold; Medicine Cat stuff." Echo answered, letting out a slight purr. "Ever since...Brisky...The Clan's been really depressed." "I know..." Ramona trailed off as she thought of the lost Warrior. "You know, he was my second cousin," Butterscotch pointed out. "Yes, he was," Echo mewed.

"Hey!" Ramona peeped up. "We shouldn't be so glum. Let's race back to camp!" "Sure!" Echo purred.

The ran through the leaves, Echo at the lead. "Come on!" She screeched happily. "Well, how about you slow down!" Butterscotch hissed laughingly. Bolting through the grass, rustling the leaves on the trees, paws pounding at the ground.

"You two are slow," Echo laughed, tripping over her own paws and landing on the ground, whimpering. "Stop acting like a kit," Butterscotch growled. Echo chuckled angrily. "You're just upset because I'm smarted than you," "Oh yeah?" Butterscotch challenged happily. "Yeah!" Echo responded. The two tussled until Echo signaled to stop, and they walked back to camp, not saying another word.

At camp, Echo suddenly remembered she has to get some herbs. "Aw, man!" She blurted out. "I forgot the herbs." "Forgot what?" Her apprentice, Coda asked. "Coda, can you go out and get some herbs for me?" She asked the young tom. "of course!" came his response. Coda bounded off, and Echo went for her den.

"StarClan, please send me a sign of Brisky," she pleaded. "And make it soon."


The next morning, Echo awoke to the sun barely rising above the trees. She padded out of her den of ferns, and roused her apprentice, Coda, to go with her to get some burdock root.

"Do you think it was right me for to be Medicine Cat apprentice?" Coda asked when digging for the roots. "Of course, Coda," Echo answered. "Why not? You're perfect for a Medicine Cat." Those words seem to reassure Coda. "And when I go to join StarClan," Echo continued. "You will be the one to take my place." "Are you sure?" Coda asked, looking straight at her. "Positive," Echo answered, feebly licking his head.

Suddenly there was a rustle from the brambles, and a sleek black tom with a white paw and white tipped ears came out. He looked at Echo, eyes wide with shock and thought. Her eyes were the same. "Ra-Ravenflight?" She stuttered, almost falling off her paws. "Echo? is that you?" Ravenflight asked, walking up to her. "Is this your kit?" He asked, looking at Coda. "No," she answered. "he's my apprentice."

"Apprentice?" Ravenflight looked unsure. "Yes," Echo answered calmly. "I have a Clan now." "A Clan?" Ravenflight growled. "But-" "But what?" Echo asked nicely. "There is nothing. I'm their new Medicine Cat, and Coda is my apprentice."

"I'm still a rogue," Mewed Ravenflight. "A rogue?" Coda asked hastily. "Echo, we shouldn't be talking to him." Echo sighed. "You're right." She turned her gaze to Ravenflight. "I must go," Then she whispered in his ear: "But I will see you again."




"Don't forget to put those under the leaves in my den," Echo mewed to Coda, who was carrying the burdock roots. "Alright," he mumbled through his mouthful. Coda bounded into her den and came out moments later. "You're done for today." she mewed. Coda's eyes light up and he ran to his brother and sister and sat down next to them.

Echo spotted Ramona and Butterscotch talking by the pond. "Hi, girls," she mewed as she went up to them. "Oh, hi Echo." butterscotch mewed. "Go get some fresh-kill and sit with us." Echo nodded and padded to the fresh0kill pile. She picked out a squirrel and brought it to her friends. "You guys can keep a secret, right?" Echo asked. "Yes, of course." Mewed Ramona. "Like what?" Butterscotch asked, tucking her paws under her chest. "Well," Echo started. "I saw this rogue-" "Rogue?" Ramona broke Echo off. "Did you chase him away?" "N-no," Echo stuttered. "I knew him." "You knew him?" Butterscotch growled. "Yes, from a long time ago- when I was even a rogue." Echo meowed, wrapping her tail around her paws. "You were once a rogue?" A voice asked from behind. It was Frost, Alice, and Bunny. "Frost, Alice, Bunny, were you both listening the whole time?" Echo hissed, but not meanly. "No, only until you said, 'when I was even a rogue'." "That caught our attention," Bunny put in. "Can you tell us the story? Please?" Alice pleaded.

"No," Butterscotch answered for her. "You can't." "But...But we want to!" Bunny cried. Echo ignored her and sent them away with a flick of her tail.

"Go on," Ramona mewed. "Yes- I was once a rogue, that's where I was." Echo said. "And today, me and Coda went into the thicket to find burdock root. Something came out of the brambles- a sleek black tom with a white paw and white tipped ears. it was my old friend, Ravenflight." "Yeah?" Butterscotch asked. "Well..." Echo trailed off, her eyes filled with comfort. He voice was suddenly a whisper, and her gaze turned serious. "I...I think I might love him." "What?" Ramona hissed. "You can't! You're a Medicine Cat." "I know that!" Echo growled. "but I wont see him again. Really."

Butterscotch sighed. "Alright. Well, thanks for telling us." Echo stopped them. "You mustn't tell anyone. Not even Blake." "But Blake's our leader!" Ramona argued. "Please. I'm a Medicine Cat. You must trust me." Her friends nodded, and they walked away. Echo walked to her den, and laid at the entrance, watching the sun fall down like a kit lingering to sleep. She sighed. StarClan forgive me...
