Well with the recent sacrifice Icy made for Tritannus I thought it would be appropriate to make an article detailing my opinions on the relationship and season 5 Icy in general, since her drastic personality change seems to have become quite a hot topic here.
I'll start with Icy's relationship with Tritannus, or what I like to call Tricy. I really do have mixed feelings on this relationship. I have posted many times prior that on one hand it is cool to see a softer side of Icy and know that she isn't completely evil--gives her character some depth, but I really did love the idea that Icy was just cold as ice in nature, I like that there was no redeeming quality in her what so every. And I do like knowing (in his bouts of rage upon her recent injury) that Tritannus does care much for Icy and isn't just using her like Darkar and Valtor. Unlike those two, Tritannus' promises to Icy about making her empress seemed sincere. It's really nice to see another character besides Darcy and Stormy who don't hate Icy, that actually likes her company. I also thought that dancing scene was pretty cute (despite how terribly out of character it was for Icy). And that sacrifice did go to prove her bravery even further. On the other side I don't like how love sick her character has become for him, it is a real throw back for her character and I know that school girl crush has cost her a number of fans. However I still love her character. I also really dislike how this crush may or may not have cost her her life as well. I really hope that's not the case, and she'll be alive and well or at least alive in the following episode. I also agree with lovebaltor in saying that I loved the idea of Icy being an independent single lady.
Moving on to my opinion of the 'new' Icy in general. By comparison to her seasons 1-3 counterparts I am not all that impressed. We're 5 seasons in, I believe we should have more background on her and more character development, sadly it seems as if (like with pretty much all the characters) we've only taken steps back in that department. I strongly despise her transformation from a strong, cold-hearted, show-no-mercy, true villain to this girly, lovesick, armature villain. Don't get me wrong I still love Icy, she has been a childhood favorite, I have liked her for nearly 9 years (given that the show began 9 years ago) I can't just stop there. It's just really disheartening to see how downgraded and girly they made this once heartless, dominatrix become. And her voice certainly doesn't help, I think her new voice in itself is what is making it so hard to see her as the mature woman she once was. It's just so far off from Lisa Otiz's voice acting, the acting I grew up hearing. The Icy I remember would never die in place of someone--furthermore she'd probably laugh as the fatal blow came in contact with that person.
This one was very short and to the point, but I do hope you all enjoyed it none the less.

She opens the door. She freaks out. " Oh Stella!" she says. " I thought you were in your bedroom.." "Hi, I'm here to visit Stella." Stella says.
"Stop joking! I hate your jokes!" told Roxy. " Stella didn't tell you about me, didn't she?" asks Stella. "She didn't tell me she was gonna make a joke at 8:00am!" shouts Roxy.
"What do you mean? Really, I'm here to visit --" "Hey, Liliane!" says Stella as she appears in a different costume. " What in the world? You have a twin?" asks Roxy.
Bloom appears. " Another Stella?" Bloom asks. "You silly! That's Liliane, my twin sister!" Stella laughs and she hi-fives with Liliane. " Stella, y'a know what? Roxy thought you were messin' with her!" laughs Liliane.
-------- THE END ----------
Many fans believed season six would be the last season. I was gonna write an article on why it’s probably not, but hearing it from Iginio Straffi would be much more convincing, right?
So here it is, translated from an interview posted Friday on Corriere Adriatico:
We’re in full swing: it’s in preparation for Winx season 7, Prezzy season 2, a third film about witches, and also planning new characters. Everything’s going well at Rainbow Magicland, the amusement park near Rome. And in these first days of the year, we’re strengthening our offices in Asia, where we’ll soon be focusing our efforts.
There you go, fellow Winx fans. Now you can enjoy season six knowing this isn’t the Winx’s last adventure. (And those of you who hoped it would be, well…sorry.)
