I'll have a crack at it!
1.) How did you discover winx club in the first place.
In the olden days (aka 2004) I would wake up a good hour or so before my parents and brother, because I had to catch an early bus. As per my usual morning routine, I'd turn on the TV and look for a good cartoon to wake myself up with. One of those mornings I noticed a new show on the listings I'd never seen or even heard of before - "The Winx Club" - so I thought I'd check it out. It was completely unlike anything else I'd ever watched and I was surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did, but I got into it very quickly. I think what got me interested so fast was that some of the characters' powers were based on their personal interests. It got me thinking what my powers would be if I were a fairy at Alfea, and what powers some of my friends would have!
2.) Who is your fave fairy.
Flora. I always loved that I could relate to her flaws (along with the fact that she has awesome friends who love her the way she is), and I guess I have a soft spot for nature lovers too!
3.) Do you have any other fave characters such as a fave specialist or witch perhaps?
Oh yes! My other favourite fairies are Musa, Aisha/Layla, and Roxy. When it comes to villains, I do like the Trix, and my favourite of the trio is Darcy. I also really like Griffin, and my favourite specialist is Timmy. And don't get me started on all the adorable animal characters...
4.) fave fairy pet(s). Such as in season 7 (fairy animals. Season 4 (fairy pets). Etc.
... dang, I warned you not to do that! I've always loved Kiko right from the beginning, and I also really enjoyed the addition of the Fairy Animals introduced in season 7. I love all of them, but Amarok is probably my favourite because he is so lovable and reminds me of some of my own pets! Elas is a cutie, and Shiny is especially entertaining.
5.) what is your fave pixie?
Hmm... probably Caramel. I just love how such a tiny creature can be so tough! Bonus points for her cutesy moments, and how they don't take away from her badass side.
6.) What is your fave selkie?
I'm gonna go with Lemmy. Either her or Phylla, but I think Lemmy is perhaps a little more likeable. Both got on my good side pretty quickly thanks to their eco-friendly introduction they had! I'm not too big on the selkies in general, but they can be pretty sweet.
7.) On a scale of 1-10, how much do you love/adore winx club? Would you change anything about the show?
That's a tough one, because my rating would probably change from season to season. But I'm gonna give it an 8! I absolutely loved the first three seasons, and may give them a 9 or 10 on their own, but I have always found something to enjoy about each season, be it a new character, some development on an existing character, a new revelation about their universe, or a nice story arc. If I were on the production team though, I would want to do a few things differently. First, I wouldn't add new transformations all the time, but instead develop on the ones that are already there. Second, I'd let the villains win every once in a while. I'd probably still have the good guys get the final victory of every season, but the villains would be more menacing and powerful leading up to that. Third, I'd probably develop the characters more. Maybe, to do this, I wouldn't add as many characters in the first place, but yeah, I would definitely develop on the personalities and backstories of the Winx Club members, the major supporting characters, the main villains, and the main specialists. But even though I would change a few things, I can still find a lot to like about the show the way it is.
8.) Anything else you would like to add about the show?
I think it's awesome that it's still in production! I feel old, being able to remember watching it in 2004, and to think that the same show is now being watched and loved by kids who weren't even born back then! A lot of the cartoons I was into in the early to mid '00s are all cancelled and/or wrapped up now, so it's great to see that one of my shows survived and has a whole new generation of fans now.
