Summary: Ziva goes to see Tony before they are both shipped off.

This is setting during their last night in DC together after Vance sends them away.

She never really knew what to expect when she knocked on his door that evening. Were they going to carry on as if nothing was happening? Maybe watch a movie and laugh at the "goofs" as Tony called them. Or were they going to make wild, passionate love for the first, and maybe last, time? Maybe they'd just sit in comfortable silence for hours...

For the first time, he sees that she’s only human. And only then does he get it. The cartoon image he’s always had of her – infalliable, indestructible – falls away. He sees his team, now, as more than the comic cartoon personas that are easy to pin on them – he’s seen his usually silent, calmly intimidating boss lose control and throw a man into the Interrogation Room’s mirror. He’s seen his competent, techno-savvy probie falter and doubt himself to the point of handing his boss back his badge. He’s seen his cheerful, bright Abby fall to pieces when Kate and Jenny never came...
