Contrary to previous reports that "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 has already been canceled, recent reports claim that the series will return this year for its new season. Recently, Viz Media\'s senior director for sales and marketing, Kevin Hamric, dropped some interesting details about the series.
Despite being on hiatus for so long, the popularity of "Tokyo Ghoul" among teenage and adult fans has never faded. In fact, fans have been anxiously waiting for new updates and making speculations about the new season despite the tightfistedness of its creators when it comes to offering details.
In his interview with ICv2, Hamric said that the next season of "Tokyo Ghoul" would see the light of the day this year. According to the executive, the dark fantasy anime series is definitely coming back for another season, just as how "One Punch Man" will return for season 2 this year. He said "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 and "One Punch Man" season 2 are the biggest anime releases slated for this year.
"Nothing that\'s been recently released, but \'One Punch Man\' is coming back on with season two. There\'s going to be another season of \'Tokyo Ghoul\' coming shortly. Later in the year, those would be the bigger releases on the anime side," he reportedly said.
Shortly after the interview, Viz Media released a press statement dismissing Hamric\'s claims. According to the studio, Hamric was mistaken since no new season of the series is currently on their schedule.
Meanwhile, plot rumors claim that the next installment will focus on Ken Kaneki as he assumes an alternate persona after almost being killed by Kishou Arima. In the new season, Ken will be an Associate Special Class Ghoul Investigator living under the name Haise Sasaki. Rumor has it that before enlisting in the organization, he will lose all his memories.
