Chapter 6
Breaking news
A few hours later, and you found all of us racing out of the movie theater to our car, which we thankfully parked far away from the scene. We jumped in and when we all finally stepped through Lara’s front door we burst out laughing, falling to the floor.
“There faces!”
“Their reactions!”
“That was so fun!”
“You should have seen that dude! The balloon hit the girl at exactly the right time!”
“You should have heard that man’s scream in the bathroom, oh my gosh!”
We burst out into another fit of laughter, clutching our stomachs, and a few minutes later trying to regain our breath’s.
“Mall’s are so much,” Lara said, all of us nodding in agreement before we all collapsed to the floor, again.
The next day, I sat on my bed, staring up at the ceiling. Saturday, a boring mellow day. I wish that I could’ve hung out with the guys but they had already made other plans, or should I say there parents. Just like mine, because I was just informed that we were going to have a family day. Oh the joy, father only does these stupid excuses of fun because he’s going to tell us something important, and the day is never fun.
Sighing I sat up and fished through my closet, in the end I settled for a blank tank top over a blue tank top that was cut short, and short jeans. I made my way down the stairs, surprised that it was deathly silent.
“Father,” I called out. “Azerien, anyone home!”
Weird, I just woke up a few minutes ago, they could’ve been gone for hours.
After pouring myself some good nature cereal and milk, I made my way to the living room and plopped on the couch. I took the remote, sank back on the couch and turned on the tv.
Coincidentally, it was on the news channel, with some breaking news that made me freeze.
“Really devastating it is John, we haven’t been able to contact the parents of this child, but some students who knew the kid came to us with another photo of the suspect, the only one at that.”
A photo popped up on the screen, it was the side of a man, through his torso up he was covered in blood, I’ve seen that picture before.
“So once again the body of Jenna Rovickz was found, she was missing a few days before, and when her brother Dean Rovickz didn’t return from home days after she went missing their parents were worried. But today we have found both bodies of the children, they both were in a shed near the woods. If you want to pay your respects the aunt of the children told us their funeral will be next month on the 22nd, back to you John.”
The scene cut back to a tall man in a suit who started talking about a similar murder a few weeks ago, then he went on to a story about a bank being robbed but by then I just kind of zoned out.
Jenna and Dean Rovickz, I remember seeing Dean, who was in about two of my classes. And now that I think about it, Jenna didn’t come the first day I went to school. Jenna went missing the first day I arrived here, and during the middle of that day father left the house and didn’t return until early the next morning.
The realization hit me so hard, my stomach churned. Father killed Jenna the first day we got here, and then hid her in a shed where he worked on getting rid of the evidence, but then something happened that made him race to the woods to hide where my friends saw him and got pictures of him. Then a little later, he found Dean who was looking for her and…killed him too, where he left him and his sister to rot.
Where they were found dead, and then my friends or one of them went to the police straight away after putting two and two together.
Before the thought of something like this wouldn’t bother me as much, but now I feel so sick, I didn’t think of how wrong this was before now. I needed to do something. Anything!
Without a second thought, I raced to father’s room and looked around.
What am I doing?
I went to his computer and turned it on quickly.
Password.
I paused and then typed the first thing that came to my mind. Kill.
“Password correct,” a women’s cheery voice said.
I went to my father’s document and clicked on the folder named files.
The folder was crammed with a bunch of stuff, I wouldn’t be able to read it in time. I ran to my room, grabbed my special flash drive and raced back to my father’s room, I put it in the computer and then made sure it downloaded everything into it.
The house phone rang while it downloaded, and I couldn’t help but think of how the phone rang like in those Scream movies, shaking my head I tried not to think of how Ghostface could pop up, and rip me open. I picked up the phone and held it to my ear.
“Hello?”
“Zyanna! Where are you?!”
Sweet delicious relief enveloped me. “At home, where you should be, Azerien.”
“I’m with father and you should be here!”
“I woke up to an empty house a few minutes ago! What was I going to do? What, run around town looking for you!”
“We have a little problem,” Azerien snarled.
“Have you seen the news?”
“Of who father killed?”
“Shut up! Look, were doing family business-”
“That doesn’t involve me!”
“-for me to take on father’s legend.” He continued ignoring me. “I just called to make sure your okay.”
“What about family day?”
Azerien snorted on the other line. “Please, you know your glad we skipped it. Anyways father and I are going to be gone the whole day, we’ll be back late.”
I nodded and then realizing he couldn’t see me responded. “Sure, of course, see you then.”
I hung up the phone, and grinned. All day, huh? That means more exploring father’s dirtiest secrets.
The flash drive was still downloading about an hour later, and during that time I fished through dad’s drawers to find them packed with things like knives, guns, gloves, rope.
But the thing was, I didn’t know what to do, after I found the stuff. The thought of turning him in made me sick to my stomach. I couldn’t do that to him, even if he would’ve done it to me. But I had to stop him, somehow.
Because if he doesn’t stop, my friends will keep on piling more stuff on him until he gets caught. There a threat, and if he ever finds that out he would kill them. But that wouldn’t stop my friends, there daredevil’s they won’t be scared of him.
What am I gonna do?
I sat on father’s bed and put my head in my hands. Deep breaths Zyanna, deep breaths.

Wednesday
First day of summer and I'm already bored. I'm not bored enough to want to back to school. I'm just lonely bored. L. J called me several times this morning wondering if I was okay and if I wanted to go some place with him. I kindly rejected him. If it wasn't Jennifer or Tammie calling then I don't want to hear. Velvet signed me up book club thing. I do like to read books and she thought that maybe I could meet some new friends that have something in common with me. I think she is full of baloney. Velvet made me promise to go to the first meeting tomorrow. I don't know. We'll see how my mood is by tomorrow.

After much debate, I have decided to try my hand at writing a mystery novel. I've always loved mysteries, especially the original "Sherlock Holmes" stories, and shows like "Monk" and "Twin Peaks". The summary for the story I'm writing is in the in the section below. If you like the idea, let me know, because I'm really excited for the story!
