Chapter 37
The way a mind works
The fall was painful, but not too painful. My arm throbbed a bit, but the nice lush soft green grass made the fall less deadly. I managed to survive, and so did Meredith as she hugged me happily when we stood up. But we couldn’t have our moment for longer we needed to hurry.
Meredith and I ran from the cabin into the woods, similar to the exact same woods that Dorothy once ran from. I felt chills as my feet pounded on the floor, feelings of the deceased being pumped to my blood. But I shook them off and kept running.
“You think that them police would come?!” I asked, from the pounding in my ears.
Meredith shrugged. “Maybe! But a second call doesn’t hurt, especially with no whispering, they might know who we really are.”
I nodded, trying to will my legs to go faster. It took forever but we finally reached the end of the woods, and we had to keep on running into we found a small neighborhood.
I felt a weird sense and suddenly I the feeling of being drowned in the water popped into my head again, but I was still running, but I was drowning too.
Meredith pounded on the door. “Help! Help!”
The door opened to a grumpy man glaring at us. “It’s one a.m in the morning! What do you-” His eyes widened. “You’re the girl’s from the tv!”
“We need to call the police! Now!” Meredith yelled.
The man nodded rushing us too his phone while he called out to the family, or his wife if he didn’t wake up.
A woman with a harassed face entered in a robe, she looked ready to rip someone apart, but her eyes widened at the sight of us. “Oh my dear Lord!”
Meredith was yelling into the phone. “Hello! Were in trouble! We’ve been kept in this cabin! And I know who killed Dorothy Loreans! We need help, the cabin is close to where Dorothy was killed! The river! Yes! Where she was drowned!”
At the word drowned I felt the weird feeling again, I was here and yet I wasn’t. I couldn’t breathe and yet I could. I was standing and I was drowning. I was desperately trying to swim up, my brown hair blocking my view-wait a minute! Brown hair! That’s not Dorothy!
But who could it be? Who’s dying, who needs my help?! The girl moves around and the setting of the water is familiar, it’s the river, she’s being drowned in the river!
Carefully I survey the room, and sure enough I see these keys, and one of the attached keys is too a car, I run to it and grab the keys the women shrieks.
“Sorry! But we need to borrow your car!”
Meredith widens her eyes. “What!”
“Someone right now as were speaking is being drowned at the same river Dorothy was! We have to go!”
The man shakes his head, but the women puts a hand on his arm, “let them go.”
Meredith shakes her head at them. “Come with, please?”
But I don’t wait for an answer as I pull Meredith with me outside, I unlock the car and we get in and the grown ups follow us too.
“This better not be a prank,” the man warned.
“If it is,” I say. “Then the joke’s on us.”

Today's the day
We show all our strength
Tonight's the night...
No one's ever gonna keep me down
Again...
And I'm gonna go on,
And on.
Tonight's the night
We're gonna be determined
Have hope in our eyes
You can see it inside
As we rev it across tonight
Tonight's the night
Tonight I'm gonna give it my best shot
And no one's gonna control me
Not tonight,
Oh not now,
And maybe not ever again.
Cause I have the feeling
That I'm powerful
That I'm givin it my all
And it's gonna be a shocker
When I power the stage tonight
Tonight's the night
And no one's gonna shove me down again,
Cuz tonight's my night.
