So, Tyler IS going to have a love interest for S2. Lets go the process of elimination route and break this down..

The three main Tyler ships would be Forwood (Tyler/Caroline) Tonnie (Tyler/Bonnie) and Jyler (Jeremy/Tyler)

(Forwood) Having one love triangle in the show is entertainment, having two in the show would be complete over-kill. There would be no more room for real story-lines, and the only characters that wouldn't be involved in a triangle would be...

Tyler Lockwood sat by the fire in his family’s large and spacious living room, on hand idly twisting a beer in his hands, his eyes red rimmed but otherwise dry. His mother cried silently beside him, twisting the cap of her own beer before downing half of it in one large swallow. Her cries filled Tyler’s head, making a sort of buzzing sound that was slightly annoying, but he ignored it because they were mourning his father that day, had been every day, drinking beer after beer in the living room and expected to cry a bucketful of salty tears.

They both have the potential to be powerful opponents against Damon and Stefan in the upcoming season. Firstly, the both have the exact motive for revenge against the two vampires. They both have lost a loved one because of the vampires, and therefore have a reason to not exactly love Damon and Stefan. I could see them teaming up together next season to try and kill Damon and Stefan for some reason; and as long as the two vamps don’t die (I wouldn’t mind if Stefan died actually but…..whatever), then it could...
