“Finally, I was beginning to think it would never happen” Ballack said.
David would have loved to say he totally held it in like a man when Leo died, but the truth was he completely broke down, I mean, he was all of what, eighteen and he had to deal with the death of his friend especially after “that incident”. Even though he knew Leo was going to come back, it didn’t reduce the amount of pain he felt, so he just went on and sobbed without any care in the world who saw him “Leo, you idiot, why did this have to happen to you” David cried.
Ballack watched as the boy wept and he understood what the boy was going through, as he himself was no stranger to the pain of losing someone but even with all that, there was no easy way to tell the boy what he had to know. Better to make the boy direct the hate at him than anyone else or worse, himself. “Hey boy, don’t be such a wuss” Ballack said “Put on your big boy pants and suck it up”.
