A wince wiped itsway into my spine. Something smelled. My throat burned-raw. Someone new... [i]her[i]. I bit down a hole into my lip.
>>>"God, Edward, looks like you got some luck. I can smell her from here!" Laughes Jasper.
>>>I stare at him. "Yes, this is one case of adversity, eh?" I say, without humor.
>>>When I park, I think about just driving off and never coming back. My head pounded. I didn't know that vampires could get migranes.
>>>I tried being reserved when getting out of the car. Every movement ached with the scent just gloating away in the air. I was malovently distressed. Masochistic--that was my mental status. But then... the smell blurred into me.
>>>Freesia... it was like wine, but more sweet. Like strawberry and champagne. With roses and daisies, citrusy, and nectarus. It was... forbiddingly intense. It has an overpowering... heartbreaking scent, and it radiated through the halls. I clamped my jaw. I took a deep breath. I regreted it. I didn't want to breathe here. Ever again.
>>>All day, I was regreting that breath. All in that breath was the scent. I get to lunch, walking in to the cafeteria with Emmett, Rosalie(sneer), Jasper, and Alice. They were side by side, all in front of me. Emmett carried a bag of eggs, (he'd just 'egged' someone's car) Alice had on our symbol as did rosalie, Emmett and I, worn it in some form of accessory.
>>>I stared intently at it, and I couldn't concentrate suddenly. Something broke my stride, and burned straight up my nose. I take another step, going into hunting mode. Jasper patted me on the back.
>>>"Sorry, man. I know how it feels." He says. Emmett chuckled.
>>>"Dude, your eyes are black! Like pitch." He laughed.
>>>"Can't... talk." I say, grinding my teeth, visciously.
>>>Jasper smiled at me, sympathetically.
>>>"Remember who you are." He says, simply. Rosalie scowls.
>>>We walk in a line to the lunch room. I hold my breath tight, plug my nose, and let the scent burn me. I listened in.
>>>"Oh, Bella, are you really that insecure?"
>>>"Who are they?"
>>>"Cullens. Weird, but sexy." She laughs.
>>>"Him?" She gasps, looking directly at me.
>>>The other one... the one with infernal point of view... locked in a gaze with me. She pictured a few years back, when she asked me out. I guess I'd forgoten. It happened so often that year, that I could easily forget all the faces whom asked.
>>We sat at our usual table. I tried to ignore the scent.
>>Jessica, the one talking to Bella, was convincing Bella what she thought of us. She was off. Far from what we where.
>>She stared at us constantly.
>>I tried to read her mind, to hear what she thought of us.
I could only hear the people around her.
This was frustrating. I wanted to go up to her and...
Alice kicked my chair.
"Sorry." i murmured.
It was time to go to biology. Another boring class.
There was nothinghe can throw at me that i didn't already know.
I walked to my usual seat. I was the only one who didn't have someone next to me, and my teeth.
I saw bella walk in. You HAVE to be kidding me. Then she walked towars the teacher and passed the only fan. her scent drifted towards me.
I jumped from my seat. Mr. Banner scolded me. I stared, seductivly at the terrified Bella Swan. She shook, and tripped forward. Her grip on her bag was lost. She leaned over, staring, petrified, at me. I glared, trembled, and flew forward. My nails dug into my palms, and I put my hands on her shoulders. I inhaled, and my eyes rolled into their sockets. I couldn't handle this. I bolted from the class. A few girls rushed to Bella, who'd collapsed from my horrifying presense. Mr. Banner was walking to the door.
"Edward Cullen, get your butt back here." I pause. I turn to him.
"I'm going to be sick, Mr. Banner." I gasp, nausiated-literally, by the scent.
The only one who'd be supportive right now is Jasper. I walk over to the class where he is. I whispered.
"Jasper, I need you. Please, I ruined myself." I gasp, penetrated by her scent on my fists.
I heard him asking, politely and irresistably, to use the bathroom.
He came through the door, and put his arms around me, in a brotherly hug.
"Dude, what happened?" He asked.
"I lost it. She's in my class. She. Sits. Next. To. Me. I made her collapse." I gasp.
His face was pure concern, and frustration. A hint of sympathy.
"Edward. Did you bite her? Who saw?"
"No, no. I almost did. I went like this." I repeated my actions, and he winced when I touched his shoulders.
"Man, you put quite a lot of pressure on her arms. Thats about the equivelant of a hundred pounds!" He gasp-whispers.
"That was a lot lighter than I did it. Oh, Jasper, what if she's really hurt?"
"She is, Edward! Oh, I'm sorry, Edward. You may have blown it for us."
"No. No, I couldn't have. One more year! Oh, no, Jasper, I didn't!" I plead.
He blinks, long. He stares back up at me. "Hang on." He says. "I'll be back," he rushes down the hall. I visualize his mind.
He goes to Mr. Banner's class. Bella is still unconscious, he's on the phone, and holding her head up. Her arms are already purple. How could I have hurt her? She was so... opposite of impenitrable. So breakable. So broken.
Jasper goes in. "I was called by the nurse, by a Mr. Edward Cullen to get Bella Swan to the Hospital?" He says. Mr. Banner cancels whatever he was on the phone about - an ambulance. Jasper walks over to Bella, and lifts her easily into his arms. Her head hangs over his arm, and her arms dangle, loosely, and it is mortifying to know I did that. Alice was right.
The vision was too close to being right.
Her mother, and father...
People C.A.R.E about her.
I held my breath. Jasper comes around the hall. He stops, raises his skeptical eyebrows. "Can you handle it?" I nod.
He brings her, hesitantly, around the corner.
We walk to the outside door. I call Carlisle. Well I hope I'll have an explanation.
