It shows that men don't have to be the boss and women can handle situations on their own perfectly fine.

vance sucked last season and isn't great this season eithe. jenny was the best director ncis ever had i can't believe they took her off! and why did they have to say she died in a fire when she died for a cause i mean would be kinda insulting if you died for something you believed in and it was reported as an accidnet right?

Vance sucks this season and last season and will still continue to suck the rest of the time NCIS airs. Seriously! Plus I like that Jenny was in charge. It show that girls can be just as assertive, bossy, in-charge, and a good friend but can get to the point and get stuff done!!
Plus Vance SUCKS!! JENNY WAS AWESOME!

It doesn't matter whether you like Vance or Jenny better, more that fact that there was a female director. The question wasn't asking who you like more.

The question INCLUDE who do you like-they are 2 different people, and it's up to us to say which one we like.I like Morrow more than Vance and Vance more than Jen.We HAVE take characters in mind, because they are a part of their personalities - but I suppose you didn't think about that. The fact if the Director is famile or male,is NOT the main reason to like or not to like the Director-it's the characters we like, not their gender.

ZaraShade ,to vote for a Director, based on her-or his -sex ,is awuful.I ,at last, refuse to based my vote ONLY on that. The fact the Director is male of famile doesn't mean ANYTHING,if,like Option said,we don't take in mind their character, their personalities.I really prefer more Morrow and Vance to Jen-but I make my choice on that what kind of people they are-NOT on the fact if they are women or men.

I agree with sugar_baby-I don't want to judge people, based on their sex.I think the male Directors were-and are-more responsible and ready for that position than the females, but \i based my POV on the facts of their guidance-not on their sex.

She gave her life to safe Gibbs because she chose to die heroic instead to die from her illness. She didn't do her job in Paris-didn't tell anyone. She didn't tell Gibbs his life is in danger because of her mistake in Paris. She involved the team in her own personal vendettas. The fact she tryed too cover up her mistakes doesn't speak to me she has strong personality.Morrow and Vance don't act that way,so my vote is for them.

Sugar_baby, the question asks whether or not you like that there was a female director. I think Vance makes a good Director, I'm not dissing him. I'm just stating that I like the fact, in the show, a woman was put in charge of an armed federal agency. It is awful to vote solely for a person on the basis of their gender, but the reality is that in Vance/Jen's profession there is a lot of gender-bias. I'm not even voting for Jen as a person in this pick, I'm simply trying to say I like the fact there was a female director. For Jenny to make it that far in her job she must have been very good regardless of her flaws.

"Sugar_baby, the question asks whether or not you like that there was a female director."

Then, since this question asks for a general opinion,it should be on some other spot, because this is a spot for women of ncis.Since it is on that spot,it has to include Jen's character, because she was an NCIS Director.Maybe you have a point-since English is not my mother language,I can't be sure- but if it really asks only for that, the question is pointless for me,if I have to chose, based only on that-I feel like somehow I have to chose between apple and an orange-both are tasty for me.

"the reality is that in Vance/Jen's profession there is a lot of gender-bias. "

I agree-but we are talking about NCIS female Director here. I didn't get impression that people vote against Jen because she is a woman-at last I don't do that. From my POV I would like to have a female Director, but I don't think Jen was good Director, especially in the ligh of the fact she made so many mistakes-IF she had some possitives, thety are hidden for me- one or 2 episodes, where she had her moments, are not enough for me to see her as a good Director. The fact Jen is a woman can't make me chose, because I have to base my POV on something more valueble - otherwise I'll have to judge about them as a Directors based on how good looking are they.Female or male doesn't matter for me-the important thing is how they managed to do their job. If you watched Judi Dench as "M" in James Bond" movies-that's the woman Director I would love to see.Jen just didn't fit for me a s a strong enough person to rule the agency. 2 other female character- Ziva and Kate-could make Gibbs listen to them and make him respect them(and they are his subordinates, not his superiors) ,I don't see why Jen- the Director- couldn't do it too. I never saw Gibbs to respect Jen as a Director.Gibbs tryed this with Vance, with whom he has a past too, since they know eachother, but it didn't work. That's why my vote goes for Vance and Morrow-the gender has nothing to do with it.That's why from the all 3 Drectors the woman was the weakest Director for me.
Excuse me,i don't want to bash the character-just that's the way I see exactly that female Director and exactly these male Directors.Of cource,if a male Director made some stupid mistake and because of him a member of the team is hurt,I would vote for Jen-but so far I like Vance and Morrow better than Jen.

"from my POV Jen Shepard was a badly writen Director."

I think the same way too.If we have to vote for a woman Director, this vote HAS to be based on something-there are good female Directors, and bad female Directors.

"For Jenny to make it that far in her job she must have been very good regardless of her flaws."

"Must have been" is not enough for me-we didn't see it on the show.Gibbs said she was a good agent(i usually trust his valuation) , but all I saw is that she allowed to be kidnaped in Jeopardy, because she made a mistakeshe said it herself) , and didn't do her job in Paris-all that doesn't show me she was a good agent. If the writers want me to see her as a good agent/Director,they should show me that.

I agree.Otherwise the question will be kind of offensive-men against women- I don't think that is the point of this question. So far we have one female Director and we can vote based only on her manage style.

Sugar_baby, I do understand what you're saying. I do see that Jenny made a lot of mistakes as the Director. I just perhaps took the question to mean something subtly different. I was more excited by the fact that there simply was a position of such power - in a predominantly male run profession - held by a woman. Power to the women and all that.

I, personally, was disappointed somewhat in the way the show did indeed have her make so many mistakes as Director. I would have liked to see a female Director who was very good at the job without all of the mistakes Jen made. Instead now it kind of works out to make both of the male Directors we've seen much more capable.

Also, '"Must have been" is not enough for me-we didn't see it on the show.'
Seriously, just because we didn't see it on the show doesn't mean it wasn't implied. We have had a lot of background on other characters that we just accept about them. I don't think Jen would have been made Director without serious consideration. Gibbs did always say she was a 'damn good agent'. Besides, she was supposed to be pretty good at the political side of the job as well.

"Seriously, just because we didn't see it on the show doesn't mean it wasn't implied."

In general for me that is somehow we read/heared that someone is good at something, but we didn't see that on the screen. They may implied everything-but if I don't see on the show, that means for me it doesn't exist-she was kidnaped , didn't do her job in Paris-THAT's what I saw from her "good agent" side and exactly that doesn't show me she was a good agent. In Kate's case, for example,Gibbs said "she has balls"-I agree, because I saw it.The writters may imply that Gibbs is a great mentor- but I agree with them, because I see it,not because some other character on the show said it.The writters introduceŠ° Ziva like a well trained Mossad officer -and I believe them, because I saw Ziva to react like one.I just don't see Jen to react like a good agent and good Director, althought the writters keep telling us how good is she.I had a feeling that the writers go back and forth with her character. I agree about the point about the politic side of the Director possition- but the men are good on that as well+ they deal with Gibbs better than Jen-at last from my POV.

I,like a person, don't trust the things some other tells me-I want to see it myself, before to to accept it as a part of the character. On that I agree with Holyoke-we didn't see Jen's good side as a Director and an agent-she may deal with politics, but she didn't earned Gibbs' and my respect-and I think this is important for a Director possition too.I don't like Vance character, for example-but I respect him.I just can't respect Jen as Director-she was too much cold-hot-cold with Gibbs and the team for my taste-because of exactly that behavour I wouldn't know (if I was an agent) where I stood with her-with Morrow and Vance I will always know-they seem more...consecutive for me.

'Power to the women and all that. '

I got that in your post-I just think we get over the all women vs men, black vs white ect things a long ago-only ,excuse me for the offencive reply-I speak in general, idiotic and narrow minded people(yes, they exist-but the majority of the people are tolerant) can be biased about the fact they have a female Director.

PS: Following your thought about "the reality is that in Vance/Jen's profession there is a lot of gender-bias",on ..I think Facebook or Tweeter,I read some people really like Jen because "she is hot"-I just can't get how these people mind works.I think she is hot too-but what that has to do with the Director possition?! Judging by that, they will be OK with any woman Director,as far as she is a good looking.Men!:D

Wow...I agree with...umm everyone (lost track with who said what) lol

I agree with ZaraShade view of what the question ask for. Its asking Male or female, which one you like as director?...because of the use of the word 'woman' (and not Jenny in specific) AND THEN

I agree with someone (not sure who, lost track with all the comments)
Considering this is the "Women of NCIS" spot and reading the question you may think Female as in Jenny and Male as in Vance and Morrow and another thing the person who made the question also put Jenny icon next to girls rule option and Vance for the other. This to me can also make the person view the question as in Jenny or vance and have a reaction like "ewww hate vance" and pick Jenny.

So its either the question was posted in the wrong spot or phrase incorrectly...people interpret things differently so all you guys have a point.

oh wow so many opinions! Haha I agree with everyone to some extent. I think its awesome that more and more shows are putting women as head of things, Jenny for one, and then idk if you guys watch house, but cuddy is the dean of medicine, which is usually a mans job. She even pointed out that she was one of three in the US? I think earlier someone mentioned that they thought Jenny was poorly written? I would definatley agree with that. She really didn't get much screen time and when she was on there for long periods of time it was over the whole "frog" incident, which was not one of her shining moments. Maybe if we had seen more of her we as viewers could have learned more about her and her past. And I do have to disagree with something someone said earlier though...
ok IMO you can't literally blame someone for getting kidnapped. She said she made a mistake by going with him, but if someone is holding a gun to me or something I think I'm going to listen to whatever he says. I just feel like saying that it is jenny's fault for getting kidnapped is a little extreme. Then you would have to say that it's ziva's fault for getting captured and tortured in somalia and so on.
