I sit at a desk, one among a sea of students, as we wait for our test results. The room is a flurry of movement. Tapping feet, biting nails, doodling, and then there's me. Near, the unintentional number one. I sigh at the thought, but at the same time I smile to myself. I might actually be L's successor after all...
The room goes completely still as the door creaks open. Rodger walks into the room, a stack of graded papers towering in his hands. Each step he takes echoes in the silence....
