Sorry it's taken me so long to post this. Writer's block :( But on the bright side, I FINALLY got the first couple Chap's done :D
I fastened the rope and opened the sky dome right above the ruby. I slid down the line; face first, my feet pressing the wire between them. I brought out a small canister and sprayed its contents. The glass case melted into a puddle. I grabbed the rock I had been holding and got ready to switch it with the ruby.
‘1…2…3’ I thought. On three, I switched them. I flipped back around and crawled up my line. Suddenly, it was yanked upwards. I was pulled up through the sky dome. I was facing six teens.
“I’m sure you paid for that, right?” one asked. I saw a dark shape loom up behind them. I smiled. I just needed to take the big guns out first, and he could take care of the rest. I brought out a mini kryptonite flame thrower. I shot one blast at the green girl, the one with the S-shield and the one with gills. They all went down. I dropped a small chunk of kryptonite down the S-shield shirt. I lit a couple long lasting flares and dropped them by the faces of the Atlantien and the Martian. Now, only three left. I smiled at them. They were all quickly knocked out by my partner. I smiled and gave him the ruby.
“Good job, Scorpio” he said under his skull mask.
“Thanks Red. Hey, I was wondering, who were those kids?” I asked
“Some random group of sidekicks” he shrugged, then pulled me close.
“But that doesn’t matter now. All that matters is that I have the best partner in the world” he purred. He lifted his mask revealing his familiar blue eyes and red hair. He kissed me hard on the lips. I cradled his face in my hands, enjoying his touch.
“Ew. Villain love” I heard one of the heroes say. I broke from the kiss and whipped around. The speedster had awoken. I leaned down and was right in his face. I put my hand up and blew the dust from my hand into his face. He coughed, and then fell back asleep. I turned back to Red X.
“Where were we?” he asked, bringing me into his embrace. I pulled away.
“Red…I’ve been meaning to tell you something, but I just never got around to it. Why are we villains, common street thugs, when we could be so much more? When we could do so much more?” I asked
“I was wondering the same thing. And I know what I must do. The Red X has terrorized the streets of Gotham for the last time. He’s about to disappear, never to be seen again” he said quietly
“Wait, you’re retiring?” I asked
“Yes. I’m going to follow my dreams. You should to, quit while you’re ahead, that is. Good bye, my love” he said. He planted one last kiss on my cheek, then ran off. I touched where he kissed me.
“Stupid! You should’ve stopped him, but now he’s gone! You couldn’t just tell him you wanted to be a hero, but instead you had to go into some stupid emotional speech that made him quit being your partner!” I said, pacing back and forth. I grabbed my kryptonite from the larger guy, along with my two flares. I ran into the night and jumped from building to building; going straight to where I knew was safe. The Scorpio’s Den. When I got there, someone was waiting for me.
“What do you want, Cheshire?” I sighed
“I need…assistance in getting a certain hero’s attention” she said
“And why should I help you?” I asked
“Because I can give you what you want most: to be a hero” she said
“Okay, I’m listening” I nodded
“All you have to do is ‘take me down’ and give me to Red Arrow. Simple” she explained
“Fine, but I need a new costume” I shrugged
“Already taken care of” she said. She threw me a large bundle of clothes.
“Go change” she ordered. I walked into my room and changed into the dark red outfit Cheshire had picked out for me. It was a blood red top with darker red leggings and blood red boots.
“Meet the new Scorpio” I said
“If you’re gunna be a hero, you’ll need this” she said, throwing me a domino mask. She also tossed me two wrist black guards.
“Wow, you’re really loaded with stuff” I commented
“Those wrist guards shoot needles. Weather they’re poison or not is up to you. Oh, and don’t forget your insignia” she tossed me a belt that had a yin yang made out of two scorpions, one black, one red. I grinned.
“Well, let’s go find you your little hero” I grinned.
