Megan's feet swung happily under the tall table as she sipped her hot drink. She had never thought that an earth drink like hot chocolate would be so wonderful.
“Yum!”
Becca laughed as she drank her own chocolatey beverage.
“Are you enjoying your first taste?” she asked.
Megan nodded rapidly.
“You are quite the unusual girl,” Artemis commented. “I never thought you hadn't tried so many things. So many...earth things.”
“Coming from Mars makes it challenging to try new foods, drink, or anything else. People don't really seem to notice how racially segregated they can be.”
“I know. But we try.”
Becca's phone interrupted their conversation. She pulled it out and shut it off. Placing it in her pocket, Becca turned back to her friends.
“Continue.”
“Who was it?” Megan asked.
“Robin.”
“And you didn't answer it?!” Artemis teased dramatically.
Becca rolled her eyes while smiling.
“No. I'd rather have a little downtime with you two. Besides, they think we're at the mountain.”

“No way! Cassie was lying!”
Artemis growled in anger. She had been scanning the security cameras (she'd seen Robin hack them a few dozen times) and was disturbed by what she saw. And now that she thought about it, Cassie had been attempting to get the Superboy's attention. And Artemis was mad!
“I can't believe this! Becca, you've got good senses.”
Artemis walked down the halls, trying to find the others. She eventually found them sitting in the living room. The guys were listening to Cassie talk while Megan baked in the kitchen. Becca sat at the counter, silently fuming. Artemis joined the two girls.
“You were righ Becca! Cassie attacked you.”
“Thanks. Tell that to them!”
Becca jerked her head towards the others before turning away.
“She disgusts me!”
“Same,” Artemis admitted.
“I wish she would go die in a black hole!”
Both Becca and Artemis froze. Sweet, innocent Megan had, for the fist time EVER, wished a horrible death on a person. Megan never did that! But after a minute, Becca smiled.

Artemis was shaking me wildly. “Five more minutes, Mom.” I mumbled out. “Echo!” She snapped, and I opened my eyes. It was a room, a small room with no windows, no doors, and no furniture. The only thing there was in the room was the team, but they were all sleeping. “What?- Where?- How?-“ I was in a daze. “I don’t know…” Her voice trailed off. “Com’on! Help me wake up the others! If they were like you, I’m gonna need all the help I can get!” I ran over to Miss Martian and shook her vigorously until she woke. “All will be explained soon! Just help us wake up the others!” And I ran to the next person, Robin. “Wakey, wakey, Miss Sally Sunshine!” He woke up instantly. Artemis and Miss Martian had already woken up Superboy and Kid Flash. I shushed them, and then said, “Ok, let me bring you up to speed, we’re stuck here. You’re now up to speed.” All of a sudden, I got an idea. My ammo! The stuff from my utility belt! I rushed to grab it but found out that it was missing. “Our powers don’t work!” Miss Martian said with an astounded tone. “And they took my ammo.” I said disappointedly. “Mine too!” Robin joined in. “Wait!” I...

I used a few quotes from the TV series in here. Don't remind me.

Chapter 8-

Rome, Italy
7:23 CET December 19

The two teenagers packed their bags and checked out of the hotel before heading out into the damp, gloomy morning.

Artemis could tell Wally was determined, he hadn't eaten yet. The two marched down to the train station where they caught a train heading toward Venice.

About an hour into the trip, the two teens' tensions were running high.

"This is going to take forever!" Wally complained.

"I don't like it anymore than you do." Artemis replied.

"By the time we get there, the boats will be closed!"

"This isn't America, we could probably rent a boat to get to Venice if we needed."

"Yeah but we're wasting too much time!"

"Do you have a faster way to get there?"

As soon as she asked, she regretted it. "Oh no you don't." she said, inching away from Wally.

Disclaimer: I do not own Young Justice, etc etc. You know the drill.

"Where is she?"

Kid Flash was standing in the middle of the training room, pacing around impatiently. The rest of his team members looked at him with a mixture of pity and amusement. Today was Artemis's first practice session and she was supposed to spar with Kid Flash.

"I'm sure she's on her way," Megan said softly, placing a hand on his arm to try to calm him. She quickly retracted though when she saw him grin wolfishly at her, edging closer to her.

"I agree," Aqualad said, moving closer to the pair. "We have to be patient with her; she's new to the team. And I'm sure she has a perfectly good explanation as to why she's late."

Kid Flash huffed, crossing his arms on his chest angrily. "It'd better be a real good reason, considering she's already 45 minutes late!"

"She's coming," Superboy said from the back of the room, leaning against the wall. Megan looked at him confusedly for a moment before smiling and smacking her head lightly. "Hel-lo Megan! Super hearing."

(Yes, two in one day. Even though I'm really sick.)
Chapter 7-

Rome, Italy
1:47 CET December 19

Artemis's communicator buzzed. What was Batman calling this early in the morning for? She picked it up and, making sure Wally was asleep, slipped out onto the roof.

"Yes?" she asked.

"Artemis," Batman's voice had a melancholy tone to it, and Artemis knew it was bad. "Your mother was abducted by Cheshire and the League of Shadows."

Artemis just stared at the screen for a moment. She started to cry.

"Don't worry." Batman said. "The Justice League is heading to save her, but it'll take a while."

"Worry?!" Artemis half whispered, half exclaimed. "Worry? My mothers been abducted by the Shadows who are probably trying to get at me! Why should I not worry?!"

Batman touched his comm. "I've got to go, Black Canary is on line two."

"You can't shove me off like this!" Artemis yelled into the communicator. Black Canary's face replaced that of the Dark Knight's.

Becca stopped at the Martian girl's door. She had been heading to her own room when a noise had stopped her. It sounded like crying; not a good sign. She tapped on the door softly.
“Megan?”
“I'm okay Becca.”
“No you aren't. Let me in. Please.”
“I'm okay.”
“Megan, either you let me in or I'll let myself in.”
There was a moment of silence before the bolt on Megan's door moved. A second later, Megan's head peered through a crack.
“Are you alone?”
“Yes.”
Becca stepped inside when Megan opened the door wide. She waited while Megan relocked her door. Megan took the bed and Becca sat in the desk chair backwards.
“What's wrong?”
“You know that new girl Cassie?”
Becca nodded, tensing up at the name.
“Well, she is...”
“Moving in on Connor even though she knows you and he are together?” Becca offered.
“Yeah. I don't know what to do. I love Connor but I'm afraid I might loose him.”
“Megan, I want you to listen carefully. No matter what happens, you have to keep holding on. I know things will be difficult and you'll want to give up. But don't....

Chapter 6-

Rome, Italy
7:31 CET December 16

Wally woke up, which was a surprise because his alarm clock hadn't rang.

He was about to get up when he felt something on his chest. He looked down and was surprised to see Artemis's head. Her long blonde hair pooled on the ground and she looked so peaceful. Wally would never admit it in a million years, but he thought she looked cute too.

He hated to wake her up, but they had a job to do. Plus, he was starving.

"Artemis," he whispered into her ear, gently shaking her. "Wake up."

Artemis groaned and rolled over. Wally caught her head before she hit it on the concrete. She stood up stretched. Wally was racing in circles at super speed.

"What in the (yawn) heck are you doing?" she asked.

"I gotta stretch." he said.

"You are so lame." she said.

Wally opened his mouth to protest that she had used him as a pillow all night, but he quickly shut it.

Artemis must have fallen asleep at some point before the movie ended, because just as the sky was growing dark Wally suddenly felt a weight on his arm. He managed to look next to him and saw that Artemis had fallen asleep on his shoulder. His first instinct was to shake her awake, but he was stopped by how relaxed she looked. Her head seemed to fit perfectly on his shoulder and she was actually smiling slightly. This didn't help Wally's predicament.

Well, um… I guess it was either my shoulder or the window, Wally thought quickly, uncomfortably aware of the heat creeping up his cheeks. So my shoulder would obviously make a better pillow.

He could almost see M'gann and Superboy glancing at them through the space in between their seats, but he wasn't going to be a jerk and wake Artemis up, so he just ignored them. Eventually his exhaustion overtook him as well, and he gently let his own head rest on hers.

"Aren't they adorable?" M'gann whispered happily, pulling out a camera and snapping a picture of her sleeping friends behind them.

Chapter 5-

Rome, Italy
21:34 CET December 15

"Gotcha!" Wally said.

"We're on the same team, idiot." Artemis replied.

She and Wally were playing Justice League on the game console Wally had rented earlier that week. Artemis hated to admit it, but it was sorta fun.

The Flash (Wally) was zooming around, making the Joker go crazy. He was causing more harm than good.

Artemis on the other hand was playing Green Arrow. She calmly shot arrow after arrow, taking down villains one at a time.

"Funny, huh?" Wally asked.

"What's funny?" Artemis asked, shooting a couple of arrows at Wotan.

"We're both playing our uncles!" Wally said, hitting the joker at the speed of sound.

Artemis bit her lip, but Wally didn't seem to notice. They continued playing until it was about eleven. Artemis said they needed to rest and had to wrestle Wally for the controller. She finally got it and fell asleep.

When the smoke cleared, I was missing from the spot everyone had last seen me. I was high in the canopy of fake trees, looking down on Cyborg.
”Dude, I didn’t set my cannon to disintegrate…did I?” he said. Both teams were looking very pale. I grinned and jumped down, right onto Cyborg’s head. I pressed a button and vibranium sound waves emanated from my suit. They were loud enough to shut down Cyborg’s movement.
“The challenge is complete” I said. Cyborg was gaping at me.
“What? Did you not think I was female?” I asked. Then I remembered, that must’ve been what he was doing when I shut off his locomotion.
“Control Freak, has the challenge been completed?” I asked
“Yeah. Dude that was awesome!” he screeched. I turned Cyborg’s locomotion back on.
“If you were wondering why I didn’t budge, it was because my suit absorbs energy based attacks” I explained. I re-joined my team. Robin looked like he was about to faint.
“I take it my little disappearing act worked?” I grinned. He was looking at something over my shoulder. I spun around and saw the one called Raven on the ground. I sprinted over to her.

I turned my head sharply to look directly at him. He jumped. I looked at him through narrowed eyes. He tried to look confident, but failed. Both Kid Flashes were running laps around the room. I grabbed the one from my dimension as he ran by.
‘Stop wasting your energy! You’ll have none left to fight at this rate’ I mentally growled
‘Who said we were fighting?’ he asked
‘He did’ I though, subtly gesturing to Control Freak.
‘He’s a fat couch-potato. What can he do?’ Wally thought
‘Haven’t you noticed? There’s no windows, no air vents, no tiny holes in the walls for air, yet we breathe. There is no door, yet he can enter freely. I dare you to try and explain how it is possible that he’s pulled seven people from two dimensions without disrupting the time space continuum’ I thought
‘Okay, so it may be possible that he has some power, but not a lot. Anyways, it’s not like he can make us fight. Can he?’ Wally asked. I didn’t answer. Control Freak walked in.

“Okay. Who wants to play a game?” Becca asked, setting a bowl of M&M’s on the coffee table.
“I do!” Wally shouted. “What game?”
Becca ducked her head to hide her devious smirk as she sat on the floor. The others felt a little chill when the smirk on her face had moved to her eyes.
“Clue.”
“That's a boring game!”
“No it's not! At least not how I play it.”
Wally tilted his head as he caught Becca's smirk. Something was going to happen. But they agreed.
“How do you play?” Artemis asked.
“Everyone needs to sit on the floor. Around the coffee table.”
“Don't we need a board to play this?” Wally reminded as they did what Becca had instructed.
“No. Now, take each other's hands. Megan, link us up.”
“Are you sure?” the martian asked. “The last time we did something like this...”
“Trust me Megan. I know what I'm doing; I've practiced. Link us up.”
Megan nodded and connected all their minds together.
“Close your eyes,” Becca whispered.

Part One:

"This is awkward." Artemis whispered to Wally, glancing at the newest edition to the Team sitting in the bioship.

"We felt the same way." Wally replied back.

Artemis slapped him and sat up. Robin snickered in the background before Superboy elbowed him.

"Approaching target." Megan said.

"Switch to stealth gear." Aqualad said. Artemis, Wally, Megan, and Kaldur switched their outfits to a dark gray/black version. Revenge merely zipped up his jacket and tapped something on his sunglasses.

"Not much of a costume." Wally commented.

Revenge didn't reply.

"Don't think he heard me." Wally whispered to Boy Wonder.

"I heard you fine." Revenge said. "I have advanced hearing built in that rivals Superboy's."

Wally straightened up indignantly.

"At the Drop Zone!" Megan announced.

Three holes opened in the bottom of the bioship. Revenge, Artemis, and Robin jumped out. The three landed in a crouch and moved off as the bioship landed. The rest of the Team walked out.

Chapter 4-

Rome, Italy
11:47 CET December 14

The comic book store exploded, throwing Wally and Artemis into the street. Torn pieces of paper and rubble from the store rained down around them.

"You okay?" Wally asked, getting off of Artemis.

"I'm fine. You?" Artemis replied, standing up.

"Good- ow!" Wally picked a piece of debris out of his back.

Crowds were gathering around the former store. People were running everywhere. It was a very chaotic scene.

"Cover me!" Wally said, ducking in an alley. Before Artemis could inquire anything, Kid Flash zoomed back.

"Go change, I'll take care of the crowds." Wally said.

"But my uniform is at the hotel." Artemis said.

Wally picked up Artemis and zoomed away. In under a minute, they were at the hotel.

"Here," Wally said, handing Artemis the key. "Get back there as soon as you can." Wally zoomed off.

Robin looked outside for Becca, but she wasn't in sight.
“Becca!”
He waited a minute before he heard a muffled reply.
“Up here, Robin.”
Using his grappling hook, Robin made his way up to a ledge just above the cave entrance. Becca was sitting with her back against the rocks and her legs bent. Robin sat beside her and took her hand.
“Why'd you run out? Are you okay?”
“I'm fine. I just...thought of something I didn't like.”
“What was it?”
“Nothing important.”
“Well, if you aren't going to tell me, I have another question. Why don't you like Cassie?”
“Ugh! Cassie!”
“You don't even know her. How can you not like her?”
Becca chewed on the inside of her cheek. She stood up and paced a little before sitting back down.
“I can see into the future.”
“You can WHAT?”
“I know. I should have told you. But I can't control when and what I see. For instance, I can't see if you and I will end up married someday. Believe me, I tried. But I can see clips from another persons future and I never know when it happens.”

I gasped and took a step back. "You- you have no proof!" He laughed, "You look the exact same, you sound the same, and you both have the exact same necklace. Com'on, you have to be Mel Ritozo!" I sighed and said, "And you're Dick Grayson." I smiled triumphantly. He jumped over to me and slapped a hand over my mouth. "Shhhhhhh!" He hissed. "How do you know?" "Hmmmmmmm---" I said sarcastically and loudly. He sighed and took his hand off. "Promise not to tell anyone, ok?"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever."
"Great. Shall we?" He took his hand and gestured to an empty phone booth. I shook my head and put my hand on my hip.
"What's this?"
"Telaporter. It takes us to the cave."
"Cave?"
"The team? You're our sub. Remember?"
"Oh, yeah. So how does this work?" I gestured to the phone booth. He laughed and walked into the phone booth, closing the door behind him. I took a step back in awe, but did the same when it was my turn. Before I knew it, I was walking into a huge cave filled with all sorts of technology, 3 adults, 4 teens, and Robin. "Whelming, isn't it?" He smiled. "Yeah." I said, still in awe. Batman was there, and I could also make out Black Canary...

“What is the urgent news?” Kaldur asked Batman.
The Caped Crusader stood before them, emotions wiped from his face. He opened his mouth to speak. The Flash interrupted him.
“We have a big problem and we need your help. Hi Becca! Bye Becca!”
As the Flash sped away, they turned to look at Becca who was leaning against the doorjamb.
“Hi Flash! Bye Flash!” she called back.
She jumped a second later and there was a loud crash before an even louder moan.
“Ow!!!”
“Sorry Flash,” Becca called.
The Flash stood by her a second later.
“You are a devil. But you're loads of fun!”
Becca smiled up at the hero before the two turned to the others.
“The Flash has been giving me some extra training. We have this on going war,” she explained.
“And I need to get better because, so far, I'm loosing!”
“How do you play?” Wally asked.
“One of us will try and out-maneuver the other. Simple but deadly.”
“Especially when you play with this chick.”

Chapter Three-

"Artemis, checking in. All clear up here." Artemis radioed in. The rest of the Team radioed in their positions and status'.

"The parade is beginning." Robin said.

The Team had spread out along the street the parade was taking place. Their was roughly one superhero every block. Artemis was the closest to the action. Her bow notched and ready, her watchful eye over the garrisons of policemen and women below her spot on Town Hall.

Aqualad was near the park where a pond conveniently located.

Robin, Miss Martian, Superboy, and Kid Flash were in order down the street.

"Target approaching." Robin said. Sure enough, the mayor was walking out of Town Hall onto the stage to give his speech.

"Infrared vision reports nothing." Superboy said. "Wait, there's someone on your building Aqualad."

"I'm checking it-oof!"

"Aqualad!"

"He's down! Move in!" Robin yelled. "KF, get the mayor out of here!"

Chapter 3-

Rome, Italy
9:01 CET December 14

"Why do we have to go shopping?" Wally whined.

"Because I want to." Artemis said. She hissed at him "We're supposed to be undercover!"

"A guy shopping is not undercover. Besides, why can't we be undercover at the comic store?"

Artemis rolled her eyes. She had basically had to drag Wally out into the market. Ever since he had been complaining about having to go shopping, and why he couldn't go to the comic store. Honestly he sounded like a little boy. Artemis had told him, countless times. It only bought her quiet for a minute or two.

"Because we are American and can't read Italian, second-"

"Comic books have pictures!" Wally said, emphasizing the word 'pictures' as if it were magical.

"Oh shut up! You sound like a little boy!"

"You sound like a bossy mother!"

"You are a conceited brat!"

"Your a sarcastic, smug, bossy, replacement for a guy you shoved off the Team!"

Chapter 2-

Rome, Italy

Artemis did a little remodeling while Wally 'went to get something important'. Probably his ego. Couldn't fit it in his suitcase.

Wally burst through the door at super-speed. In his hands he was carrying a pizza box and in the other, a game system. He stopped cold.

"Why is their only one bed?" he asked.

"There's two." Artemis replied. "Yours is in the closet."

Wally tossed the pizza and game system down before getting in Artemis's face.

"Why do I have to sleep in the closet?"

"Because I'm a girl."

"What does that have to do with anything?"

"Girls need fresh air." Artemis said calmly, and tossed her hair behind her back.

"What about me? I need fresh air!" Wally exclaimed, getting frustrated(er) at Artemis's calm attitude.

"Fine, you can take first watch."

"First what?"

"This is a joke right?" Wally asked.

"You must have misunderstood Batman's transmission." Artemis said.

"THERE IS NO WAY I AM WORKING WITH IT!" They both yelled at the same time.

Robin snickered.

"No," Red Tornado said. "I heard Batman correctly. You two will be working together on this assignment."

Artemis and Wally glared at each other. "Just great. Spending a week with you in Italy hunting down the mob!" Wally said.

"The experience is much less pleasant from this end." Artemis said.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Wally asked.

"I have to listen to you!"

"Well I have to deal with your sarcasm!"

"Well you wouldn't get sarcasm if you acted decently!"

Prologue-

Mount Justice
7:36 EDT December 9

Robin awoke to the sound of yelling. He rolled over and covered his head with his pillow. It didn't help much. Robin sighed.

Normally he would've liked to listen to the two lovebirds argue, but he was trying to sleep.

He sighed and slid on his sunglasses before opening his door and yelling "SHUT UP!". He went back to bed.

It had been a long night and the Team had returned from a mission earlier that morning. Thankfully it was Saturday, and instead of sending the teens home, Batman had agreed to let them sleep at Mount Justice instead of zeta-beaming them home to their parents at three in the morning.

Oh how Robin wished he was in Wayne Manor right now.

He could easily guess what was wrong. He tuned into the argument, knowing he wasn't going to get any sleep.

"Well if you were a better fighter, that wouldn't have happened!" Wally yelled.

[b]A Bad Start

Washington DC

August 11, 4:29 EDT[b]

The front door opened as Grace Emilia Ross walked through it. She looked around. "Sasmootch?" she called for her dog questioningly when she heard the back door close. "Hello?" she asked. "Is someone there?" she cautiously left the front door, and upon entering the living room to the right, she craned her neck, trying to see into the kitchen around the corner. "Dad, is that chou?" walking around the corner, she saw her dog sitting on the hard wood floor, waiting for her.

"Oh Sasmoa. Was that you making all that noise? You silly dog." she said, petting the animal furiously. After letting the dog out into the large, white fenced backyard, she walked back through the living room to the stairs, and up to her room. It was right at the top step, and at the end of the long hallway.

Dropping her backpack at the door, she plopped on her pink and black mixed bedspread. Closing her brown eyes, she began to doze off, thinking of Ray Stevens. The hottest guy in school always gave her good dreams.
