Becca entered the gym a little over three hours later. She watched them exercise for a few more minutes before blowing a sharp whistle.
“Time's up. Go cool off and have a rest.”
“But it's only been three hours!” Billy said. “You ordered five.”
Becca smiled.
“It's funny. Time flies when you're waiting for five hours instead of three, doesn't it?”
“Reverse psychology,” Beck said. “Nice.”
Becca smiled, giving a playful bow.
“Now go shower and get relaxed. And I expect you to obey orders next time.”
All six heads nodded before they disappeared. Becca smiled. She looked around and had to admit that the gym was pretty cool. It had a multitude of equipment for each and every skill. Each and every one of their powers. Becca moved to the middle, taking it all in. They were so different from all her teams. But they trusted each other and provided for everyone. It brought a smile to her face. She turned around, and turned the music on before hovering in the middle of the room.
She took a deep breath and went into action, trying out each of her newly found “toys.” She could feel each muscle and nerve working. She hadn't practiced in awhile, but her dancing had kept her in shape. She worked now, sweat beading her brow and her muscles crying out in delightful pain. This was what she needed. A workout. It wasn't hard to get back into practice, but Becca didn't find it easy either. The music powered through her, giving her new energy as she completed each of the challenges she had set for herself. Her breathing was heavier and faster as she finished. A clap got her attention.
“Brava!” Melody cheered. “That was magnificent! You looked like you were dancing!”
“Thanks!” Becca breathed.
Melody came up to her with a towel and a water bottle. Becca took both, taking a huge swig of water. She wiped her face with the towel before she looked back at Melody.
“What are you doing?”
“I'm sorry! I was just passing by, I promise! But then I saw how fluent your moves were and I was in a trance! You're moves, they are like a dance!”
“That's all fighting is, Melody. A formation of dance moves that can be used in your benefit.”
“That's a good definition. I should probably let you get a shower. I'm going to work on dinner. Any preferences you want?”
“Something Italian. But no seafood. I hate it.”
Melody smiled.
“Alright!”
Becca smiled and shook her head as Melody walked away. There was something very different about this team that she enjoyed. And she felt like she had found a family. I know they're looking for me. I'll come out of hiding soon. But I know this one thing for sure. Even if I loose New Justice, I will never go back and join Young Justice.
