over a year ago: Gollum scares me sometimes, and when he betrayed Frodo and Sam in the books, I wanted to chuck a rock at his head.

But I think Gollum, as Traceypharm said, is a complicated character. Sometimes he's clever and cruel, but underneath that, he's innocent and almost afraid. I've always seen him as a creature that wanted to reform, that was so haunted by everything that he couldn't live anymore. Which was when he died, I felt slightly happy for him - because it's better to die then live with the influence of the ring
